TV Talk: January 19, 2009 – 24, Battlestar Galactica and more
January 20, 2009 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
I had a chance to sit down and watch some of the shows I have DVR’d and new shows for the night.
I have to say that the latest episode of “24″ on FOX was pretty cool! The episode “12:00 PM – 1:00 PM” seemed to get quite dismal as some major characters may see their life get cut short in this episode alone. I’m not going to spoil the episode but definitely check this episode out!
I then finally had a chance to watch Friday’s “Battlestar Galactica” season 4.5 premiere titled “Sometimes a Great Notion”. The Earth was literally nuked about 2,000 years ago and it’s pretty much inhospitable. But what is more surprising is that the bones and things they find on the planet are not human. Hmm… In this episode, we learn who may be the final Cylon and another significant death.
TV Talk: December 29, 2008 – The City
December 30, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Yesterday was the premiere of “The City” starring Whitney Port (of “The Hills”) and friends/co-workers in New York City. Last night, we got a double dose of Whitney’s life in NYC, starting on her new job in public relations for the fashion industry at Diane von Furstenberg and we also got a bit of drama in the second episode.
In the first episode titled “If She Can Make It Here…”, pretty much an introduction episode of Whitney, her boyfriend Jay and her co-workers.
In the second episode titled “The Truth Will Set You Free” features Whitney meeting up with a model guy Alan she once dated (this was featured on “The Hills”). Alan tells her that her current boyfriend is messing around with her ex behind her back and it sets up tense confrontation between Jay and Alan.
Hmm…I have a few thoughts on this series especially the people in it but I’ll hold off since I really want to see a few more episodes before I comment. Overall, I’m digging the show. Will need to see a few more episodes and see what happens here on then…. I dig Whitney and it’s great to see her have her own show! Look forward to more episodes.
TV TALK: December 22, 2008 – The Hills, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and HEROES
December 16, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
My TV watching for the night began with “THE HILLS” (season 4 episode 21 titled “Mr. and Mrs. Pratt”), this was a big episode to show how Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag got married about a month ago in Mexico. Surprisingly, she was drunk when the two got married. So, it was interesting to watch the “The Hills Aftershow” on MTV and btw, Lo Bosworth just looked beautiful (just had to say that) on show. But what was more surprising is the trailers for the upcoming season finale. Heidi’s mother confronts both Spencer and Heidi and the issue of whether their marriage was legal is brought up and also Heidi and Lauren friends again? Definitely, things are going to look quite interesting for this series.
The next was a hilarious episode of “The Big Bang Theory” (Season 2, episode 11 titled “The Big Bath Item Gift Hypothesis”). In this episode, Penny buys Christmas gifts and Sheldon freaks out because that means he has to reciprocate and buy her a gift which leads to a hilarious Christmas shopping experience for Sheldon. The main episode was about a hunky physicist friend of Leonard’s that Penny starts to become attracted to. For Leonard, he doesn’t understand why Penny is all of a sudden into scientific men and never been interested in him when he tried to introduce her to his world. But the episode just ends with a classic moment.
After “The Big Bang Theory” was “How I Met Your Mother” which was about Ted’s sister (former delinquent) coming to town and trying to prevent Barney from having sex with her. Also, Marshall takes Robin to his Vikings hangout but things get out of hand. Another entertaining episode and interesting Christmas songs from Barney.
At 9:00 p.m., it was time for “HEROES” (Season 3, episode 13 titled “Dual”). In this episode, before the series goes into hiatus for two months, Sylar holds Claire, her grandmother Angela, her father Noah and her biological mother Meredith captive. Sylar wants his revenge and people are going to die. Meanwhile at Primatech, the Petrelli brothers Peter and Nathan are now fighting on opposite sides. Nathan wants to use the serum to create an army of supermen while Nathan will do what it takes to stop him and destroy it. Meanwhile, Ando injects himself with the serum and gains a new power. The series is starting to turn very X-Men-ish. But that’s not a bad thing. Things are heating up and really enjoyed this episode. Nathan and Peter against each other…who would of thought that would happen.
I’ll have to rewatch this online as my DVR was set to record until 10:00 p.m., it appears this episode went longer than I expected. So, thank hulu.com!!!
TV TALK: Sunday’s Musings (Nov. 24, 2008) – 24: Redemption
November 24, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
I began my Sunday with the San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys football game. Watching the Cowboys win and then watching ESPN and the NFL Network for scores and updates.
I then went to Bravo.com to catch the final two episodes of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”. In the final episode, Lisa brings everyone together to air out their squabbles and it looks like everything’s good and everyone became friends again. But obviously it didn’t happen. So, for those who saw clips of the reunion show…looks like the gloves are off and almost near catfights. Evidently, these ladies didn’t end their squabbles in that last episode.

But the main thing that I wanted to watch tonight was “24:Redemption” 2-hour special. All I can say is WOW!
Although the season starts in January, the special episode of season 7, episode 1 features Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) takes place in Africa. Jack is staying with an old friend who is taking care of orphaned children but with the instability of Africa and certain rebel groups kidnapping children to join and making them soldiers, this time it seems someone in the US government is working and funding with one of these groups.
Meanwhile the main story features Jack and his friend Benton trying to protect the children. With the US embassy closing down and having all Americans evacuate, the rebels are hot after the children and want the Americans dead.
Meanwhile, in the U.S. a transfer of power to a new presidency but it appears the president’s son has a friend who acquired information about the government official who was funding the African rebel group and told him about it.
Therefore, I can see another rotten piece of people working for the government conspiring against the new presidency in this latest season.
Overall, the episode was just fantastic. I’m not sure how they are going to re-introduce Tony Almeida into this season, especially since he was killed. But I really enjoy 24 and with Monday nights being a hot night with prime time television with Heroes on NBC, the sitcoms on CBS, Dancing with the Stars on ABC, Gossip Girl on CW….it’s definitely going to be a competitive night.
But I’ve watched “24″ since the beginning and from what I saw of the first episode with “Redemption” and it being so good…I can’t wait for the season to begin. I’ll definitely be watching it!
TV TALK: Thursday (Nov. 20, 2008) – Smallville
November 21, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Another busy work night but managed to fit in some time to check out the new episode of “SMALLVILLE” (season 8, episode 10) titled “Bride”. This was the big episode that would introduce “Doomsday” to the Smallville Universe.
I love the Doomsday storylines in the comic books and so, I was a little skeptical of how things would be on television since Clark Kent is not necessarily Superman right now but the episode featured the marriage of Chloe and Jimmy. And sure enough, you get a lot of surprises. The return of Lana, for those pulling for Clark and Lois to finally get together (my lips are sealed) and of course, Doomsday makes his appearance and starts killing people.
Just to see Clark give Doomsday a major punch but then blocked and thrown across the room was just a surprise.
What a fantastic episode of “Smallville”. You would think after eight seasons, the storylines would start to wane but things continually get better and better.
Oh, and one more surprise….who is that bald guy watching video of what happened at the wedding held at the Kent barn. Looks like someone is back…
TV Talk: Wednesday (November 19, 2008) – GHOST HUNTERS in Clovis
November 21, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Had a busy work night reviewing DVD’s, so I was unable to watch a lot of TV on Wednesday night but did manage to check out the latest episode of “GHOST HUNTERS” on Sci-Fi channel and this time, they go to Clovis, California and Salem, Massachusetts. But the episode in Clovis was just unreal.

The TAPS team go to the Clovis Sanitarium where there are many reports of supernatural activity and sure enough, the team gets their clearest communication from a spirit with a clear voice. SCARY!
Man, this show is so scary and if ghost stories peak your interest, you definitely have to check out “GHOST HUNTERS” on Wednesday’s.
That was all that I was able to watch on Wednesday.
TV TALK: Tuesday (November 18, 2008) – 90210
November 21, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
I watched the latest “90210″ episode (season 1, episode 11) titled “That Which We Destroy” in which Harry meets his long lost son, Sean, who was given up for adoption. Of course, he spends so much time with him that adoptive son Dixon starts to get jealous. And at the end, of course, things may not what they seem with Sean.
Also, the relationship between Kelly and Brenda head South as Brenda really does her best to piss Kelly off. But moreso at the end of the episode when she reveals to Kelly that she’s been a naughty girl.
But what is even more surprising is the news to come from E!’s Kristin Dos Santos that Brenda “may” be killed off in an upcoming interview and that Jason Priestley may be directing the episode. Hmm…. I guess we will find out in January.
Personally, I was stoked to see Brenda and Kelly both on “90210″ but what is it between these two, especially with Brenda always sabotaging her friendship with Kelly.
As for “Privileged”, have it DVR’d, so will check it out tonight.
That was my TV watching for Tuesday.
TV TALK: Monday (November 17, 2008) – The Hills, The Big Bang Theory, Heroes
November 19, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
I started my Monday of with WWE Raw and with Stephanie and Shane McMahon back, hopefully we can see things changed up for the show. Especially with the return of John Cena. First half was pretty good… Cool to see Santino Marella showcase his hip-hop.
Next was MTV’s “The Hills” and in this episode, it was an OK episode. Heidi’s sister Holly moves in with LC and an interesting squabble between Heidi and Spencer. Also, Heidi visits her old boss to get her job back. This is going to be interesting! Can she keep Spencer away from her worksite as they requested.
But the trailer for next episode is the big one as they take on the rumors that nearly destroyed LC and Audrina’s friendship (rumors were that LC messed around with Audrina’s fling Justin). The aftershow featured Audrina as the special guest.
Then off to CBS for “THE BIG BANG THEORY” for season 2, episode 8 titled “The Lizard-Spock Expansion” which features Leonard messing around with a girl that Howard likes. How will Howard react to his Leonard? Another hilarious episode!
Afterwards, it was “How I Met Your Mother”, season 2, episode 9 titled “Wooo!”. Is Robin trying to be one of those “Wooo!” girls that the friends can’t stand?
Then it was time for “HEROES” for season 3, episode 10 titled “It’s Coming”. Ando saves Hiro from Petrelli but there seems to have been some memory loss as Hiro thinks he’s 10-years old. Meanwhile, Sylar and Elle have some unfinished business and you get to see certain people now aligning with others and choosing sides. I actually enjoyed this episode quite a bit! Especially after last week’s flash back episode which I didn’t care too much for. It’s like the X-Men vs. the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (for the comic book fans out there).
And then it was time for “My Own Worst Enemy” season 1, episode 5 titled “The Night Train to Moscow” in wich Henry thinking Angie may be a spy. Another cool episode and I’ve been reading a few magazines that are hoping this series doesn’t get canceled. I agree! I hope it doesn’t!
All in all, that was my TV viewing for the day!
TV TALK – Tuesday Musings (Nov. 11, 2008) – 90210, Privileged
November 11, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Had to work a bit late but was able to catch “90210″ on the CW. In Season 1, Episode 10 titled “Games People Play”, Naomi found out that Annie is dating her ex-boyfriend Ethan behind her back. Annie and Ethan still keep their relationship hidden and as a secret. So, to get Annie back, her revenge is sweet by flying Annie’s ex-boyfriend to Beverly Hills.
Kelly comes back to the show and she is surprised of the developments of Mr. Matthews who was put on administrative leave. In the last episode, Matthews and an undercover cop (who is posing as a student) were caught making out. Thus everyone thinks Mr. Matthews is messing around with a student. So, Kelly is surprised by the developments.
Also, a surprise at the end as Harry’s son (who was given up for adoption) makes a surprising appearance at Annie’s birthday.
All in all, a karma bites you in the ass episode. But definitely looking forward to the next episode as Brenda reveals a secret to Kelly which is not good news at all.
If anything was surprising was to see Naomi with her permed hair and talking about going out with Annie afterwards for shopping. Next thing you know, Naomi has straight hair and nicely colored. Hmm…
After “90210″ was “Privileged” episode 9 titled “All About Insecurities” as Megan’s best friend comes to visit. But the twins are focusing on their entertainment career and missing their study sessions. Both sister’s grades are slipping.
This is the episode that Lucie Kate Hale (Rose) has her TV singing debut which she has talked about in interviews. It’s great to hear Lucie singing and she has a great voice!
At 10:00 p.m. is “Eli Stone” on ABC. Had to DVR the show as I have to get back to work again. Will check it out later.
But that was my TV show viewing for the night.
TV TALK: Monday Musings – 7.10.08 – The Hills, Big Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, HEROES,
November 11, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
My TV watching started at 6:00p.m. for a quick hour of Monday Night Raw which took place in the UK. Interesting change of events with title changes. I like the pop that Santino Marella has gotten. Because he’s one of the most popular to watch on TV, sucks to see him lose his title belt.
On to MTV at 7:00 p.m. for “The Hills”. For Season 4, Episode 16 titled “Back to New York”, this is an episode that helps set things up for Whitney Port’s upcoming reality TV show on MTV focusing on her life in New York City and working in the fashion industry. As well as the men she has in her life.
But the interesting part is watching Spencer Pratt confronting Brent of Bolthouse Productions regarding the firing of his girlfriend Heidi. And Brent not taking crap, really putting Spencer in his place. Calling him “bad news”.
The Aftershow featured Whitney Port and talking about this episode.
At 8:00 p.m, it was time to switch to CBS for “The Big Bang Theory”. In Season 2, Episode 7 titled “The Panty Pinata Polarization”, Penny has enough of Sheldon’s rules and decides to see what happens if she pushes Sheldon’s buttons. Sheldon bans her after her third strike and thus the war is on between Penny and Sheldon. Another hilarious episode and I swear, this show is my favorite comedy online right now.
At 8:30 on CBS is “How I Met Your Mother”. In Season 4, Episode 7 titled “Not a Father’s Day”, one of Barney’s one night stands might be pregnant. While Lily and Marshall contemplate having children. But are any of them ready for a baby? Another fun episode.
Was totally stoked because the DVD’s for both series are on sale at Target this week. All three seasons of “How I Met Your Mother” are $14.99 and “The Big Bang Theory” is $19.99.
At 9:00 on NBC was “HEROES”. In Season 3, Episode 8 titled “Villains”, Hiro is now under the dreamtime and seeing the past in his mind. We now know why Syler became a killer, we know how the Petrelli father died or who set up the accident for Nathan Petrelli. We know who Meredith’s brother is and the people who became agents. Pretty much a setup of what took place months before the first episode of Season 1 of “HEROES”.
The episode definitely tied up some loose ends but at the same time, I felt a little disappointment that everything that has happened was related to other characters. As if a puppetmaster controlled everyone with the strings. I was hoping that Syler was that way because he’s psycho. I did not want to know that he his freakish way was being supported by the agency. I didn’t like that Meredith and that blue flame villain was her brother and the fact that they worked for the agency.
Why can’t thinks just be left alone without having to be tied to the agency. It seems that everything is interconnected and why does another Black hero have to die from the show. Granted, the show has featured many people of different ethnicities and it’s good to see East Asians and South Asians still on the show but the Latinos and Black heroes, tend to get the short end of the stick. But then again, maybe I was starting to dig another hero with the ability to paint his dreams on the show but to see another just get killed of so easy.
Then at 10:00 on NBC was “My Worst Enemy” which I had to DVR because I had to get back to work.
But that was my Monday night TV talk.
