(NBC) ACCLAIMED BRITISH COMEDY ACTRESS CATHERINE TATE RETURNS TO DUNDER MIFFLIN SABRE THIS SEASON ON THE OFFICE
October 21, 2011 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – October 21, 2011 – British Comedy Award winner and BAFTA nominee Catherine Tate (BBC’s “The Catherine Tate Show”) returns to “The Office” this season reprising her role as Nellie Bertram. Joining the second half of the current season, Tate’s Bertram is hired by friend and Chairman of the Board Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates, not seen) as a misguided special projects manager working directly for the corporate office and who very much enjoys the favoritism received from Bennett.
Tate was introduced to “The Office” audience in last season’s finale episode as one of the candidates interviewing for the regional manager position left vacant by Michael Scott.
“Catherine is hysterical. We introduced her briefly in last season’s finale and knew she had to be a part of the show somehow. We’ll meet her again as corporate’s special projects manager, and her relationship with Robert California (James Spader) will be far from professional. We’re thrilled that she’s joining the cast,” said executive producer Paul Lieberstein.
Tate’s acting credits include the multi-award-winning BBC series, “The Catherine Tate Show,” which showcased her chameleon-like talent for character transformation. In addition to playing Donna Noble (the Doctor’s companion) in the 4th series of BBC’s “Doctor Who.” Tate also co-starred in the feature films “Gulliver’s Travels,” “Monte Carlo,” “Mrs. Ratcliffe’s Revolution,” “66” and “Starter for Ten.”
Theatre work includes the lead role of Belinda in the National Theatre production “Season’s Greetings” and Beatrice in the West End production of “Much Ado About Nothing,” David Eldridge’s “Under the Blue Sky,” “Some Girls” and “A Servant to Two Masters” for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Tate wrote, directed and co-starred in the acclaimed short film “My First Nativity” for the Sky “Little Cracker’s” season. In addition to being the key writer for her own series, Tate has a feature script currently in development.
From Deedle-Dee Productions, Reveille and Universal Television comes the multi-award-winning comedy series “The Office,” the hilarious documentary-style look into the humorous and sometimes poignant foolishness that plagues the world of 9-to-5 in the half-hour. A fly-on-the-wall “docu-reality” parody about modern American office life, “The Office” delves into the lives of the workers at Dunder Mifflin Sabre, a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
“The Office” is executive-produced by Ben Silverman, Greg Daniels, who developed the series for American audiences, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein and Paul Lieberstein.

MULTIPLE EMMY WINNER JAMES SPADER JOINS CAST OF NBC’S ‘THE OFFICE’ AS NEW CEO OF DUNDER MIFFLIN SABRE
July 7, 2011 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – July 6, 2011 — Multiple Emmy Award winner James Spader (“Boston Legal,” “The Practice”) will be joining the regular cast of NBC’s “The Office” (Thursdays, 9-9:30 p.m. ET) as CEO Robert California of Sabre, the parent company of Dunder Mifflin.
“James will reprise his role as Robert California, this uber-salesman that has a power to convince and manipulate, like a high-class weirdo Jedi warrior,” said Paul Lieberstein, one of the series’ executive producers and a series regular. “He’ll have been hired over the summer as the new manager, but within hours, got himself promoted. Within days, he took over the company. James has an energy that is completely his own, and ‘The Office’ has no tools for dealing with this guy. We’re thrilled he’s joining our cast.”
Some of Spader’s credits include: Steven Soderbergh’s “sex, lies and videotape,” which won him the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival; David Croenenberg’s “Crash,” which won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes; and Steven Shainberg’s “Secretary,” which won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Feature. His other film credits include “2 Days in the Valley,” “Wolf,” and “Less Than Zero.” Spader will be shooting Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks feature “Lincoln” later this year while he is shooting “The Office.”
From 2004-08, Spader won three Emmy awards for his seminal role as shameless attorney Alan Shore in “The Practice” and “Boston Legal,” making him the only actor to win consecutive Emmys playing the same character on two different series. He is represented at ICM and Melanie Cook.

Appearance Marks Reunion with Series Star Steve Carell
(“Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – January 26, 2011 – Comedic actor/producer/writer Will Ferrell will guest-star over an arc of episodes on NBC’s Emmy Award-winning “The Office” (Thursdays, 9-9:30 p.m. ET) as a branch manager who arrives from the home office and proves to be just as inappropriate as Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell).
Ferrell will re-team with Carell, who co-starred with Ferrell in the feature film “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.”
“We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star,” said executive producer Paul Lieberstein. “We are proud to continue ‘The Office’s’ tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.”
Ferrell, who began his career with The Groundling improvisational troupe, later became a featured star on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” where he created a host of popular characters. While there, he ventured into many hit feature films that also include “Wedding Crashers,” “Elf,” “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” “Bewitched,” “Old School,” “The Producers,” “Step Brothers,” “Semi-Pro,” “Kicking & Screaming,” “A Night at the Roxbury” and “The Other Guys.”
Ferrell and partner Adam McKay launched “Funny or Die,” a well-known comedy video website. He is also executive producer of the comedy series “Eastbound & Down,” and “Funny or Die Presents” with Gary Sanchez Productions for HBO.
From Deedle-Dee Productions, Reveille and Universal Media Studios comes “The Office,” the hilarious documentary-style look into the humorous and sometimes poignant foolishness that plagues the world of 9-to-5 in the half-hour comedy based on the award-winning BBC hit. Regional manager Michael Scott (Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Steve Carell, “”Despicable Me,” “Date Night”) is the boastful tour guide for the documentary.
Pam Beesly Halpert (Jenna Fischer, “Walk Hard,” “Blades of Glory”) is the former office receptionist now office administrator. Pam’s office romance with sales rep Jim Halpert (John Krasinski, “Away We Go” “It’s Complicated”) quickly evolved into marriage followed by the birth of their daughter Cecilia. Jim shares his working space with Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson, “The Rocker,”) the arrogant assistant to the regional manager whose responsibilities have expanded as the new owner of the office building. A surprising relationship has also formed between Andy and the ambitious distribution coordinator Darryl Philbin (Craig Robinson, “Hot Tub Time Machine”), who made an impression on Jo and moved his office from the warehouse to the main floor along side Michael and his staff.
Also starring are Leslie David Baker (“Malcolm in the Middle”), Brian Baumgartner (“Arrested Development”), Kate Flannery (“The Heir Apparent”), Mindy Kaling (“No Strings Attached”), Angela Kinsey (“Furry Vengeance”), Paul Lieberstein (writer, “King of the Hill”), Oscar Nuñez (“The Proposal”), Phyllis Smith (“Arrested Development”), Creed Bratton (former member of The Grass Roots), Ellie Kemper (“Important Things with Demetri Martin”) and Zach Woods (“The Other Guys”).
