“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” Tops at 9:00 PM in Viewers

“The Mentalist” Beats NBC Comedies and “Private Practice” in Viewers and Key Demos

THE BIG BANG THEORY and $#*! MY DAD SAYS posted increases in viewers and demos from their last first-run episodes, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in viewers and THE MENTALIST posted an across-the-board win at 10:00 PM, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Feb. 3.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was second in households (8.0/13), viewers (13.82m), adults 25-54 (5.6/13) and adults 18-49 (4.3/12).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 20, 2011), THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +2% in both adults 25-54 (from 5.5/14) and adults 18-49 (from 4.2/12) and added +190,000 viewers (from 13.63m, +1%).

$#*! MY DAD SAYS was second in households (6.3/10), viewers (10.50m), adults 25-54 (3.9/09) and adults 18-49 (2.8/07).  Compared to last week, $#*! MY DAD SAYS was up +17% in households (from 5.4/08), +18% in adults 25-54 (from 3.3/08), +22% in adults 18-49 (from 2.3/06) and added +1.76m viewers (from 8.74m, +20%).

CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (8.4/13) and viewers (13.80m); it was second in adults 25-54 (4.2/10) and averaged a 3.0/08 in adults 18-49.

THE MENTALIST was first in households (9.1/15), viewers (15.05m), adults 25-54 (4.2/11) and adults 18-49 (2.8/08).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 20, 2011), THE MENTALIST was even in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and added +230,000 viewers (from 14.82m, +2%).

For the night, CBS was second in households (8.2/13), viewers (13.67m), adults 25-54 (4.4/11) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.1/08, with ABC).

CBS OPENS NEW THURSDAY TIME PERIOD WITH A “BIG BANG”

CBS Marks “The Big Bang Theory’s” Time Period Move with a Four-Episode Marathon on Thursday, Sept. 16, 8:00-10:00 PM

CBS will mark THE BIG BANG THEORY’s move to its new Thursday time period with a four-episode marathon on Sept. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT), one week prior to the start of the 2010-2011 season.

The marathon will consist of last season’s final four episodes:  “The Spaghetti Catalyst,” “The Plimpton Stimulation,” “The Staircase Implementation” and “The Lunar Excitation.”  The episodes are as follows:

8:00-8:30 “The Spaghetti Catalyst” – Sheldon gets caught in a lie while trying to please both Leonard and Penny.

8:30-9:00 “The Plimpton Stimulation” – Leonard and Sheldon compete for the attention of a famous female physicist.  Judy Geer guest stars.

9:00-9:30 “The Staircase Implementation” – Leonard tells Penny about how he met Sheldon for the first time.

9:30-10:00 “The Lunar Excitation” – Howard and Raj set up an online dating profile for Sheldon.  Sara Gilbert and Mayim Bialik guest star.

THE BIG BANG THEORY stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar.  Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Lee Aronsohn are executive producers for Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television.

CBS First on Night in Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

THE BIG BANG THEORY was Monday’s top program in key demographics leading CBS to a nightly win in both adults 18-49 (tie) and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for May 17.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (8.7/14), viewers (14.75), adults 25-54 (6.6/15), adults 18-49 (5.4/14), adults 18-34 (3.7/10).  Compared to last week, THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +6% in households (from 8.2/13), +5% in adults 25-54 (from 6.3/14), +2% in adults 18-49 (from 5.3/14), even in adults 18-34 and added +1.02m viewers (from 13.73m, +7%).  THE BIG BANG THEORY was Monday’s #1 program in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

For the night, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (4.5/11), tied for first in adults 18-49 (3.6/10, with FOX), second in households (6.6/11) and viewers (10.73m).

CBS Wins the Night in Adults 18-49

CBS’s entire Monday lineup posted gains from last week, led by THE BIG BANG THEORY, the night’s top program in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for May 10.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (5.1/08, 8.16m) was second in adults 18-34 (3.0/10), tied for second in adults 25-54 (3.9/10, with FOX) and averaged a 3.3/10 in adults 18-49. Compared to last week, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was up +9% in households (from 4.7/08), +11% in adults 25-54 (from 3.5/10), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 3.1/09), +3% in adults 18-34 (from 2.9/10) and added +790,000 viewers (from 7.37m, +11%).

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT (5.1/08, 8.18m) was tied for second in adults 25-54 (3.9/10, with FOX) and averaged a 3.2/09 in adults 18-49.  Compared to last week, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was up +11% in households (from 4.6/07), +15% in adults 25-54 (from 3.4/08), +14% in adults 18-49 (from 2.8/08) and added +970,000 viewers (from 7.21m, +13%).

TWO AND A HALF MEN (8.5/13, 13.75m) was first in adults 18-49 (4.6/12), adults 18-34 (3.0/09) and tied for first in adults 25-54 (5.8/14, with ABC).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on April 12, 2010), TWO AND A HALF MEN was up +2% in households (from 8.3/13), +3% in adults 18-34 (from 2.9/09), even in adults 25-54 and added +30,000 viewers (from 13.72m).

THE BIG BANG THEORY (8.2/13, 13.58m) was first in adults 25-54 (6.2/14), adults 18-49 (5.2/13) and adults 18-34 (3.6/10). Compared to last week (at 9:00 PM), THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +17% in households (from 7.0/11), +15% in adults 25-54 (from 5.4/13), +13% in adults 18-49 (from 4.6/12), +6% in adults 18-34 (from 3.4/10) and added +1.95m viewers (from 11.63m, +17%).  THE BIG BANG THEORY posted the night’s best deliveries in adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

CSI: MIAMI (7.2/11, 11.10m) was first in adults 25-54 (4.2/11) and adults 18-49 (3.3/09).  CSI: MIAMI was up +14% in households (from 6.3/11), +24% in adults 25-54 (from 3.4/09), +22% in adults 18-49 (from 2.7/07) and added +1.48m viewers (from 9.62m, +15%) compared to last week.

For the night, CBS was first in adults 18-49 (3.8/10), second in households (6.8/11), viewers (10.98m) and adults 25-54 (4.7/12).

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was second in households (6.2/10), viewers (10.06m), adults 25-54 (4.6/12), adults 18-49 (3.9/11) and adults 18-34 (3.4/11).  Compared to last week, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was even in both adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was second in households (6.1/09), viewers (10.07m), adults 25-54 (4.4/11) and adults 18-49 (3.6/09).  Compared to last week’s season premiere, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was up +3% in households (from 5.9/09), +5% in adults 25-54 (from 4.2/10), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 3.4/09) and added +340,000 viewers (from 9.73m, +4%).

The Premiere of “The Amazing Race 16″ Posts Year-to-Year Demo Gains

THE BIG BANG THEORY, TWO AND A HALF MEN, NCIS, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, THE GOOD WIFE, the time period of UNDERCOVER BOSS and the season premieres of SURVIVOR and THE AMAZING RACE all posted strong ratings, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the Olympic-driven week ending Feb. 14, week 21 of the 2009-2010 television season.

On the comedy front, THE BIG BANG THEORY and TWO AND A HALF MEN were the week’s top scripted programs in adults 18-49.  THE BIG BANG THEORY hit series highs in all key ratings measures while TWO AND A HALF MEN delivered its best viewer total and adults 25-54 rating since Dec. 2008, and best adults 18-49 rating since February 2007.  Additionally, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE attracted its largest Wednesday audience.

NCIS and NCIS: LOS ANGELES were the week’s top two dramas, followed by THE MENTALIST, THE GOOD WIFE, CRIMINAL MINDS, CSI: MIAMI and CSI: NY.

In all, CBS had the top seven scripted programs and nine of the top 10 scripted programs overall.

CBS’s three reality series all posted impressive ratings.  UNDERCOVER BOSS more than doubled its time period’s season average in key demos, posting the time period’s best adults 18-49 delivery with regularly scheduled programming since November 2004.  THE AMAZING RACE 16 posted year-to-year gains in key demos while SURVIVOR premiered with its largest audience since 2007.

For the week in viewers: CBS (10.64m), NBC (16.08m), FOX (10.11m) and ABC (6.62m).  Season-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (12.50m), ahead of FOX (9.93m), ABC (8.69m) and NBC (7.91m).

For the week in households:  CBS (6.5/10), NBC (8.9/14), FOX (5.8/09) and ABC (4.1/07).  In households, season-to-date, CBS is first (7.6/12), ahead of FOX (5.8/09), ABC (5.5/09) and NBC (4.9/08).

For the week in key demographics, CBS averaged a 3.7/09 in adults 25-54 and 2.9/08 in adults 18-49.  Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.3/11) and second in adults 18-49 (3.4/09).

 TWO AND A HALF MEN was first in households (10.5/15), viewers (17.66m), adults 25-54 (7.2/16) and adults 18-49 (5.7/13).  TWO AND A HALF MEN delivered its best households, viewers and adults 25-54 performances since December 15, 2008, and best adults 18-49 delivery since February 5, 2007.

 THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (9.7/14), viewers (16.26m), adults 25-54 (7.1/15) and adults 18-49 (6.0/14) – all series’ highs.

 THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE was first in households (5.0/08), second in viewers (8.10m) and adults 25-54 (3.0/08) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (2.3/07, with FOX, -0.1 behind ABC).  THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE posted its best Wednesday delivery in viewers ever; it also notched its best households since December 10, 2008, and best adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 since December 16, 2009.

Drama

 NCIS was second in households (11.8/18), viewers (19.75m), adults 25-54 (5.6/13) and adults 18-49 (4.1/11).  Compared to last week, NCIS was up +3% in households (from 11.5/17) and added +520,000 viewers (from 19.23m, +3%). 

 NCIS: LOS ANGELES was first in households (10.9/16) and viewers (17.91m), second in adults 25-54 (5.3/12, -0.1 behind ABC) and adults 18-49 (4.1/10).  NCIS: LOS ANGELES posted its best households, viewers and adults 25-54 delivery since January 5, 2010, and best adults 18-49 performance since November 24, 2009.  NCIS: LOS ANGELES posted its best retention percentages ever in households (92%) and adults 18-49 (100%) from NCIS (for first-run episodes only) and matched best retention in both viewers (91%, with the series/season premieres) and adults 25-54 (95%). 

 THE GOOD WIFE was first in households (9.6/16), viewers (14.75m), adults 25-54 (4.5/11), adults 18-49 (3.1/09), women 18-49 (3.9/10) and women 25-54 (5.6/14).  THE GOOD WIFE posted series’ highs in households, viewers and adults 25-54, delivering its best adults 18-49 ratings since Sept. 29, 2009.

 THE MENTALIST was first in households (9.8/17), viewers (15.86m), adults 25-54 (5.0/13) and adults 18-49 (3.7/10).  Compared to last week, THE MENTALIST was up +5% in households (from 9.3/16), +14% in adults 25-54 (from 4.4/11), +12% in adults 18-49 (from 3.3/09) and added +1.18m viewers (from 14.68m, +8%).  THE MENTALIST posted season-high ratings in adults 25-54 and delivered its best viewers totals since Dec. 10, 2009, and best adults 18-49 since Nov. 19, 2009.

Reality

 UNDERCOVER BOSS was second in households (8.6/13), viewers (15.45m), adults 25-54 (6.4/14), adults 18-49 (5.2/13) and adults 18-34 (3.6/10).  Compared to the 9:00 PM time slot’s delivery this season (regularly scheduled, live plus same day), CBS was up +56% in households (from 5.5/08), +156% in adults 25-54 (from 2.5/05), +173% in adults 18-49 (from 1.9/04), +227% in adults 18-34 (from 1.1/03) and added +6.81m viewers (from 8.64m, +79%).

– CBS posted its best regularly scheduled 9:00-10:00 PM delivery in households since November 18, 2007 (COLD CASE), in viewers since March 11, 2007 (COLD CASE), in adults 25-54 since November 6, 2005 (COLD CASE/CBS SUNDAY MOVIE: “Category 7: End of the World” Pt. 1) and in both adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 since November 14, 2004 (CBS SUNDAY MOVIE: “Category 6: Day of Destruction” Pt. 1).

KUNAL NAYYAR (“THE BIG BANG THEORY”) SET TO HOST CBS’s FIFTH ANNUAL MULTICULTURAL COMEDY SHOWCASE, WEDNESDAY, JAN. 27

LOS ANGELES, JAN. 25 – CBS Television in association with AFTRA, American Indians in Film & Television, East West Players, Nosotros, The Robey Theatre Company and SAG will host the fifth annual Multicultural Comedy Showcase for industry executives on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood with Kunal Nayyar (THE BIG BANG THEORY) serving as master of ceremonies. The event will feature 15 actors selected from a pool of 4000 who applied and 1500 who auditioned. The Showcase will be directed by Rick Najera and is a part of CBS’s Diversity Initiative. Past participants in CBS Showcases include Nasim Padrad (“Saturday Night Live”) and Wyatt Cenac (“The Daily Show”), among countless others.

Nayyar’s theater acting credits include “Huck and Holden” at the Dahlia Theater in Los Angeles, for which he was awarded best male lead in a play on the West Coast by the Garland Awards, and “Love’s Labour’s Lost” at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
