CBS Wins Thursday in Viewers
The 100th episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY topped “American Idol” in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 in the common half-hour, ROB continued strong in its second broadcast and PERSON OF INTEREST delivered a series-high in adults 18-49, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Jan. 19.
Note: Due to ACC college basketball, CBS had preemptions/delays in 2.9% of the U.S. from 8:00-10:00 PM. CBS ratings are tentative and subject to change.
THE BIG BANG THEORY (9.3/15, 15.71m) was first in adults 25-54 (6.7/16) and adults 18-49 (5.2/14). THE BIG BANG THEORY posted its best-ever deliveries in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 against an episode of “American Idol.”
ROB was second in households (7.1/11), viewers (11.73m), adults 25-54 (4.7/11) and adults 18-49 (3.6/09). Compared to last week’s series premiere, ROB retained 91% of its household delivery (from 7.8/12), 87% of both adults 25-54 (from 5.4/13) and viewers (from 13.47m) and 88% in adults 18-49 (from 4.1/11).
PERSON OF INTEREST was first in households (8.7/13), viewers (14.34m), adults 25-54 (4.5/10) and a close second in adults 18-49 (3.3/08, -0.1 behind ABC). PERSON OF INTEREST posted series-high adults 18-49 ratings, matched series best adults 25-54 ratings and scored its second-best viewer performance.
THE MENTALIST was first in households (8.7/14), viewers (14.02m), adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and adults 18-49 (2.9/08). Compared to last week, THE MENTALIST was up +2% in households (from 8.5/14), +8% in adults 25-54 (from 3.8/09), +7% in adults 18-49 (from 2.7/07) and added +370,000 viewers (from 13.65m, +3%).
For the night, CBS was first in households (8.5/13), viewers (14.02m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (4.8/11, with FOX) and second in adults 18-49 (3.5/09).

THE BIG BANG THEORY posted all-time Thursday 8:00 PM highs in viewers and key demographics while the sixth season premiere of RULES OF ENGAGEMENT delivered its best fall premiere in viewers and key demographics since 2007, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Oct. 20.
THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (9.0/15), viewers (14.93m), adults 25-54 (6.6/18) and adults 18-49 (5.1/16). THE BIG BANG THEORY posted Thursday highs for a regularly scheduled episode in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. THE BIG BANG THEORY was the night’s top broadcast in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 for the fifth consecutive week.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT (P) was first in adults 25-54 (5.0/12), adults 18-49 (3.6/10), second in both households (6.7/11) and viewers (11.45m). Compared to its Fall 2010 premiere (Monday, September 20, 2010), RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was up +29% in households (from 5.2/08), +32% in adults 25-54 (from 3.8/09), +16% in adults 18-49 (from 3.1/08) and added +3.08m viewers (from 8.37m, +37%). Compared to the Thursday premiere in February 2011, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was up +18% in households (from 5.7/09), +35% in adults 25-54 (from 3.7/09), +29% in adults 18-49 (2.8/08) and added +2.02m viewers (from 9.43m, +21%).
PERSON OF INTEREST was second in households (7.7/12) and viewers (12.42m) while averaging 3.9/09 in adults 25-54 and 2.7/07 in adults 18-49. Compared to last week, PERSON OF INTEREST added +380,000 viewers (from 12.04m, +3%).
THE MENTALIST was second behind FOX’s baseball in households (8.1/13), viewers (12.54m), adults 25-54 (3.7/09) and adults 18-49 (2.5/07). Compared to last week, THE MENTALIST was up +4% in households (from 7.8/13), +6% in adults 25-54 (from 3.5/08), even in adults 18-49 and added +150,000 viewers (from 12.39m, +1%).
For the night, CBS was second behind FOX’s baseball in households (7.9/13), viewers (12.74m), adults 25-54 (4.5/11) and adults 18-49 (3.2/09).
Note: DVR penetration is at 42%, up from 38% last year. Last fall, Live+7 audiences for original entertainment series on CBS gained over 1.8 million viewers, on average, over Live+ Same Day ratings, more than any other network. This season, we expect DVR penetration to continue to increase and, as a result, we expect DVR playback audiences to grow as well.

The season finales of THE BIG BANG THEORY and RULES OF ENGAGEMENT posted week-to-week gains while the two-hour season finale of THE MENTALIST won its time period in viewers and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, May 19.
THE BIG BANG THEORY was second in households (6.8/12), viewers (11.12m), adults 25-54 (4.5/13) and adults 18-49 (3.5/12). Compared to last week, THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +5% in both households (from 6.5/11) and adults 25-54 (from 4.3/13), +3% in adults 18-49 (from 3.4/11) and added +340,000 viewers (from 10.78m, +3%).
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was second in households (5.4/09), viewers (8.80m), adults 25-54 (3.4/09) and adults 18-49 (2.5/07). Compared to last week, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was up +8% in households (from 5.0/08), +6% in adults 25-54 (from 3.2/08), even in adults 18-49 and added +640,000 viewers (from 8.16m, +8%).
The two-hour season finale of THE MENTALIST was first in households (8.5/13), viewers (13.75m) and adults 25-54 (3.9/09), and averaged 2.7/07 in adults 18-49 (2.7/07).
For the night, CBS was second in households (7.7/12), viewers (12.49m), adults 25-54 (4.0/10) and adults 18-49 (2.8/08).

MY DAD SAYS posted increases in viewers and demos from their last first-run episodes, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in viewers and THE MENTALIST posted an across-the-board win at 10:00 PM, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Thursday, Feb. 3.
THE BIG BANG THEORY was second in households (8.0/13), viewers (13.82m), adults 25-54 (5.6/13) and adults 18-49 (4.3/12). Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 20, 2011), THE BIG BANG THEORY was up +2% in both adults 25-54 (from 5.5/14) and adults 18-49 (from 4.2/12) and added +190,000 viewers (from 13.63m, +1%).
$#*! MY DAD SAYS was second in households (6.3/10), viewers (10.50m), adults 25-54 (3.9/09) and adults 18-49 (2.8/07). Compared to last week, $#*! MY DAD SAYS was up +17% in households (from 5.4/08), +18% in adults 25-54 (from 3.3/08), +22% in adults 18-49 (from 2.3/06) and added +1.76m viewers (from 8.74m, +20%).
CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (8.4/13) and viewers (13.80m); it was second in adults 25-54 (4.2/10) and averaged a 3.0/08 in adults 18-49.
THE MENTALIST was first in households (9.1/15), viewers (15.05m), adults 25-54 (4.2/11) and adults 18-49 (2.8/08). Compared to the last first-run episode (on Jan. 20, 2011), THE MENTALIST was even in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and added +230,000 viewers (from 14.82m, +2%).
For the night, CBS was second in households (8.2/13), viewers (13.67m), adults 25-54 (4.4/11) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.1/08, with ABC).
