Emma Roberts and Travis McCoy Also Appear

BURBANK, Calif. – June 15, 2010 – Robert Pattinson brought his parents to NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (Monday-Friday, 11:35 p.m. ET) on Tuesday, June 15.  The “Twilight” star took the couch to talk about “Eclipse,” the newest movie in the series, whether or not his family believes all of the tabloid gossip, and his dad’s inspiring emails.  He also found out whether fellow guest Emma Roberts was “Team Edwards” or “Team Jacob.”

After being introduced, Pattinson joked that the “Tonight Show” stage had some “good reverb” referring to the enthusiastic screams from the Twi-hard fans – some of whom had camped outside the Burbank studio to see their favorite vampire.

After introducing his parents who were seated in the audience, Leno ask Pattinson if mom and dad believe everything that they read in the tabloids. “It depends on the source,” Pattinson explained. “I mean some sources are more reliable than others. I think that the magazines my mom read before I started being in them – the ones she used to buy – she trusts those, but any new ones . . . [he shakes his head no].”

Pattinson went on to explain how his father has influenced his career: “His favorite film is ‘Jaws,’ and that’s pretty much the only film he’s ever seen.  In fact when I first started doing ‘Twilight,’ he read the script. I sometimes send him scripts to read to see what his opinion is, and with ‘Twilight’ he said, ‘Well, I think it’s kind of a mixture between ‘Jaws’ and ‘Superman.’”

Pulling out his PDA, Pattinson then shared some of his father’s emails with the audience.

Later in the show, fellow “Tonight Show” guest Emma Roberts weighed in on whether or not she was “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob.”
