The devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan has affected millions of people. No one knows how much damage was caused, nor is Japan even close to tallying how many people are missing, injured or dead as rescue efforts are continuing.
When the earthquake hit, during the first few hours, J!-ENT was monitoring our J_ENTJAPAN Twitter site and reading posts from various followers and also following the posts of various music celebrity twitter accounts and noticing how stars such as Ayumi Hamasaki, TM Revolution, MICRO of Home Made Kazoku, Hikaru Utada, Issei Ishida, model Natsuki Katou, GACKT and MIYAVI were using their celebrity status on their Twitter accounts to direct people to emergency services and also some providing information in English for the international followers who may be living in Japan.

“Vacancy” is a digital release by the 14-year-old music artist Kylee. The song is used for the Japanese animation “Xam’d: Lost Memories” and was released in the US on various major digital music distribution services in Oct. 2008.
Kylee is a music artist who has been singing professionally at a young age. At the age of 11, she sung at an opening of an NBA game and received a standing ovation. The performance caught the attention of DefStar Records/Sony Music Japan.
The ending theme footage was posted on YouTube and generated thousands of hits from people who were curious who Kylee was and the anticipation for her upcoming album in 2009 has definitely generated interest from both fans in Japan and the US.
Kylee’s “Vacancy” features a rock-based track and the song is actually very catchy with a heavy hitting rock style. Song is in English, well-sung and it will definitely quite interesting to see how she’s marketed in the US when her album is released in 2009.

Overall, the first release from Kylee is a pretty cool rockin’ single. But I definitely want to hear more and to hear if her upcoming music is going to remain consistent.
For anime fans who enjoyed those rock songs ala OLIVIA and ANNA TSUCHIYA for the animated series “Nana”, you definitely can get a sense of that rock style with Kylee’s “Vacancy”. But it’s very cool to see people in the US interested in the song and it will definitely be interesting to see how she’s marketed in the US with the upcoming album release.
Overall, “Vacancy” is a hard hitting rock track from the 14-year-old music artist Kylee. Check it out!
