Are there major problems going on with Kings of Leon?

August 1, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

It’s understandable that the Kings of Leon’s concert had cut their concert performance in Dallas after lead singer Caleb was too sick to perform.  But fans were a bit confused after the following tweets from the band members. Hopefully no major internal problems going on with the band.

Jared tweeted, “Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. No words.”

Jared followed with , “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade”

Nathan then tweeted, “So sorry Dallas, your heat got the best of a few of us. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience of all this bullshit. We’ll be back soon.”

Nathan followed up the next morning with the following tweet, “Not so good morning 4 me today. Ashamed & embarrassed by last nights fiasco. Can’t apologize enough, utterly gutted. A million I’m sorry’s.”

Here is a video from the Dallas performance (note: video has profanity, NSFW):

Kings of Leon – New Record, “Only By The Night,” Exploding in the UK; Set to Enter the Charts

“Sex On Fire” single #1 for two weeksAlbum #1 at iTunes in America

RCA Records is incredibly excited to announce that Kings of Leon’s new record, Only By The Night, has sold an astonishing number of units already in the United Kingdom after just 3 days at retail, thus putting it on target to debut at #1 next week. The first single from the new album, “Sex on Fire,” has sold well over 100k units since its release on September 8th, making it the #1 single for two weeks straight, with a third week on top looking likely. All three of the band’s previous records have now re-entered the top 50.

All of this occurred while the band was in America, taking New York City by storm. Two powerful, high-profile television appearances on Saturday Night Live and The Late Show with David Letterman as well as a sold-out, rare underplay for the lucky few at Webster Hall and the release of the Spin cover on top of all the incredible news coming from overseas helped fuel a celebratory six days during which the band seems to have entered a new phase of their career in this country. “Sex on Fire,” already a #20 modern rock record and climbing rapidly, is the band’s highest charting radio single in the US so far. Also, within a day of release, Only By The Night is #1 at iTunes and the label is expecting a top-10 debut on the Billboard top 200.

The early reviews for Only By The Night have been stellar. Vanity Fair hails the new record as “a big leap forward and genuinely ups the ante,” while Spin, in its four-star review, says that the band “still rule with a messy hand, applying rough magic and blurry, slurred imagery to their swashbuckling rock.” Rolling Stone says the new record displays “arena-ready largeness” and calls the band “rock heroes.” In the UK, Uncut magazine gives the record “Album of the Month” honors and exclaims, “the Kings of Leon aren’t impersonating the greats, they’re competing with them on an increasingly level playing field.” The Observer Music Monthly in its glowing, five-out-of-five-star review salutes the new record as it “boogies, choogles and howls at the moon…no irony intended, no guilt entertained.”

Only By The Night was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN, and was produced by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King. It is a bold and expansive sonic statement that looks set to solidify Kings of Leon’s position as one of the most important international acts of 2008 and beyond.

The North American tour begins October 11 at The Joint in Las Vegas, NV. On October 14, the band will appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
