The rock band UVERworld is one of the few rock bands that has gained international recognition through their music which have been used for popular Japanese anime series.
The band debuted with their song “D-tecnoLife” back in 2005 which was used for the anime series “BLEACH” and since then have had a good number of hits in Japan that have been used as theme songs for video games, anime series and drama.
Their first best album “UVERworld – Neo SOUND BEST-” features many of their popular hits used for those series (note: Not all of their 14 singles are available on this album). Songs that one can expect to find on their best album include their debut single “D-tecnoLife”, their second single “Chance!” (used as a theme song for the second “Bleach: Hit the Soul” PSP video game), their fifth single “Shamrock” (the ending theme for the Japanese drama “Dance Drill”), their sixth single “Kimi no Suki na Uta” (used as a theme for the TBS drama “Koi Suru Hanikami!”), their eighth single “Shaka Beach ~Laka Laka La~”, their ninth single “Ukiyo Crossing” (used as the ending theme for the Japanese drama “Hataraki Man”), their tenth single “Gekidou” (used as the fourth opening theme for the anime series “D. Gray-Man”), their eleventh single “Koishikute”, their 12th single “Hakanaku Mo Towa no Kanashi” (second opening theme for “Mobile Suit Gundam 00″) and their 14th single “Kanashimi wa Kitto” (a theme for the drama “Shokojo Seira”). The best album also includes songs from their albums “Proglution” and “Awakeve”.
There is an album release which includes a DVD featuring live performances from the band’s “AwakEVE TOUR’09 YOKOHAMA BLITZ”, “PROGLUTION TOUR 2008 NHK HALL” and “2008 Premium LIVE at Nippon Budokan”.
Overall, there is not much you can complain about this album. I can see some people who hoped all their singles would be included on the best album and anime fans who wish the track “Colors of the Heart” from “Blood+” was included but you do get 16 solid tracks.
If you are a fan of UVERworld but never purchased any of their singles, definitely give “UVERworld – Neo SOUND BEST-” a try!
The album comes inside a gold foil sleeve. The insert booklet features lyrics and production credits plus pictures of the members of UVERworld. Also included is an UVERworld Christmas card and a mini-flier with information on Spring/Summer 2010 tour.

In August 2009, GACKT released his 35th CD single “The Next Decade”. The song served as the main theme song for the film “Kamen Rider Decade All Rider vs. Big Shocker” in which GACKT has a cameo role as the character Joji Yuki.
The single features a pretty solid upbeat, rock track featuring words by Shoko Fujibayashi and music arranged by ryo. GACKT is in top form with his cool vocals and heavy hitting guitars by AYANO and drums by MASAKI. The coupling track “T.N.D. Orchestra” features an all-instrumental orchestra based track followed by the instrumental version of “The Next Decade”.
GACKT and “Kamen Rider Decade” fans will probably want to check out the CD+DVD version of “The Next Decade Music Cinema Film” as the music video is a eight-minute short film featuring GACKT as the character Joji Yuki and taking part in pretty cool action sequences as he fights against thugs and also cool CG special effects included as well.
NOTICEABLE CONTENTS:
Bi-fold insert includes lyrics and production credits. Plus a mini flier with information on the GACKT Official Fan Club Dears.

The Yellow Monkey is a Japanese rock band that debuted in 1989, the name of the band is derived from an ethnic slur of what people referred to Japanese/Asians. The band is considered one of the Japanese rock bands that helped increase the popularity of modern Japanese rock music.
The band consists of Kazuya “Lovin’” Yoshii (vocals/guitar), Hideaki Kikuchi (guitar), Youichi Hirose (bass) and Eiji Kikuchi (drums).
The first time I heard “SPARK” was through the CDTV and just the chorus alone stayed in my head for days and definitely had to buy this single. It’s actually my first single that I purchased of The Yellow Monkey and I really dig the vocals and the music. The guitars are pretty awesome and it’s definitely an upbeat, rockin’ track! I dig the vocals of Kazuya Yoshii!
The coupling track “MOONLIGHT DRIVE” is another upbeat track and it has a western old school swank rock style to it. But overall a cool rock n’ roll track. The third track is the karaoke (TV-Mix) of the song.
Overall, a solid single from the band and if you are looking for a cool rock band from Japan, definitely give The Yellow Monkey a chance!

Rock band Sharan Q have come a long way since their first single “18ヶ月” (18 months) and within four years, the band has now become one of the hottest rock bands in Japan.
The band consisted of Tsunku (vocalist), Hatake (guitarist), Makoto (drums), Taisei (keyboard) and Shu (bass). The band achieved success with their sixth single “Single Bed” (which was their first single to break the Oricon Singles charts top 10 at #9) which was used as the ending theme for the anime series “DNA^2″ and followed up with their popular single “Zurui Onna” which debuted at #2 and became the highest selling single for the group.
And to celebrate band’s rise to popularity, BMG is releasing the band’s first best albums which features all ten singles from the band and their bonus ramen track “ラーメン大好き小池さんの唄” (Kosuke’s song – I Love Noodles).
When it comes to best albums, you can’t really go wrong if every single from the band from 1992 through April 1996 is included on this best album. And the fact that many people are discovering Sharan Q for the first time, the album has definitely done well on the Oricon Charts because simply, if you haven’t purchased their previous singles, this best album is a magnificent deal.
I first discovered Sharan Q through the anime series “DNA^2″ but the band has quickly become so popular that they are on all music shows as of late in Japan. Their hit song “Zurui Onna” solidified their popularity in Japan and since then, the band has done considerably charting in the top 3 of the Oricon singles charts (they’ve been denied from the top spot by bands and groups like B’z, Dreams Come True, SMAP, ZARD, SPEED, MAX and artists like Namie Amuro, so they’ve had steep competition in getting that #1 spot).
For Japanese drama fans, hits like “My Babe Kimi ga Nemuru Made” (Long Vacation) and “Iiwake” (Age 35 Koishikute) are also included on this best album.
The CD booklet comes with the lyrics but pictures of the group from each single plus production credits, discography and more.
Overall, there’s nothing bad anyone can say about this album. It has every single that came out from the group and you get one bonus track! It’s a pretty awesome album and if you are discovering Sharan Q for the first time, I highly recommend this album as a fantastic starting point for their music.
