What is “Master Keaton” all about?

In 1998, “Master Keaton” was a manga series serialized in “Big Comic Original”.

Created by Hokusei Katshika and Naoki Urasawa, the series was released through 1994 and ran for 144 chapters. In Japan, a total of 18 tankobon volumes were released and in 1998-1999, a 24-episode animate adaptation was aired on Nippon Television plus an additional 15 OVA episodes were created and were once released in the United States.

In 2012, Urasawa would create the sequel to the series titled “Master Keaton Remaster” with writer Takashi Nagasaki and the series was serialized in “Big Comic Original” and was set 20 years after the original series ended.

And now, Viz Media is releasing an omnibus of the manga series which includes 12 chapters and part of the Viz Signature imprint.

The story of “Master Keaton” revolves around a man named Taichi Hiraga-Keaton, the son of Japanese Zoologist Taihei Hiraga and Englishwoman Patricia Keaton. Because his parents separated when he was young, Taichi was raised in England by his mother.

He studied archaeology at Oxford University under Professor Yuri Scott. While married, like his father, he also divorced and has a daughter named Yuriko who was raised by her mother but recently has been visiting her father now that she is a high school student.

While Master Keaton teaches archaeology at Kotozawa University and is often taking jobs as an insurance investigator with Lloyd’s of London that require his expertise. Sometimes the job can be very dangerous. But the other side of Keaton is that he was also a member of the British Army, and its SAS (Special Air Service) division…special forces. Keaton was a survival instructor and saw combat in the Falklands War and one of the team members who responded to the Iranian Embassy incident.

He skills of survival but also combat is remarkable but his knowledge of archaeology and antiques are also uncanny. And now, he must take on various jobs around the world that puts him and his clients at risk.

“Master Keaton” is an entertaining and smartly written manga series.

On the outside, you think Keaton is just a normal man but not only is he able to outwit anyone who tries to hurt him, his survival skills are uncanny. But yet, he is a man with faults and that lies more in his life as a father (he’s so busy that he hasn’t really been there for his daughter) and his concern for his ex-wife (he no doubt loves her but also too busy to be a married man).

While I won’t go so far as calling him a James Bond-ish type of character, as he isn’t actually suave, he is a survivalist and an knowledgeable about ancient history and antiques.

Not many know of his special forces training, they just know of his knowledge of antiques, and thus he goes into areas that are a bit dangerous.

In omnibus volume 10, you get a good number of diverse stories. From Keaton helping out the bar owner who’s estranged son was murdered.  Who was responsible?

Another story revolves around Oliver Woodworth coming back and leaving his father’s wealthy business to become Keaton’s assistant.  But Keaton tries to prevent Woodworth from being his assistant due to the danger of the job.

There is also an intriguing story that involves a smuggling ring with each of its members being killed.  With a link to the Nazi’s, Keaton must find out who is murdering members of the smuggling ring.

And another fascinating chapter involves Dr. Neville going to Landbery Village in Wales to find an escaped convict.  Neville finds Keaton also on the scene but something sinister is happening around the village.

For the most part, I was very impressed with each of these stories as they were well-researched, well-written and really go into the historical details of an item, of cultures and more.

The art and the ancient history portion of various chapters are well-researched and Hokusei Katsuhika did a wonderful job, while the artwork by Urasawa is wonderful as always.

It’s absolutely wonderful that Viz Media has released the “Master Keaton” omnibus in North America. It’s one of the most intriguing, smartly written manga series available in the United States. And the good thing is you can pick up any volume and not really miss out on continuity because each chapter is a different case for series protagonist, Keaton.

If you love mystery, action and well-written, smart stories, “Master Keaton” is highly recommended!

All this and more in Naoshi Komi’s hit manga series, “Nisekoi: False Love” vol. 20!

What is “Nisekoi: False Love”?

Naoshi Komi’s manga work is well-known for readers of Shonen Jump. From “Koi no Kami-sama”, “Williams” and “Double Arts”, Komi’s manga “Nisekoi” (False Love) was created as a one shot for Jump NEXT! in 2011 but then receiving the go-ahead as a weekly manga serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump”.

“Nisekoi” revolves around high school Raku Ichijou. When Ichijou was a kid, he met a girl and he kept a lock, she kept the key and promised each other to get married if they one day find each other.

Since then, Ichijou has kept his promise and has worn the lock around his neck and has been hoping to meet her again.

But Ichijou’s life is a little complicated. While a good-natured individual, unfortunately for him, he is the son of the leader of the Shuei-gumi yakuza syndicate. He has no interested in become part of the yakuza but everyone expects him to be the next one to lead the syndicate in the future.

Meanwhile, while going to school, he sees a foreign girl jumping from a wall and landing on him. He loses the lock on his neck and is very upset of what had transpired. Next thing you know in class, that same girl becomes a new student in his class.

Chitoge Kirisaki just moved from the U.S. to Japan and since her mom is Japanese and her dad is America, she is fluent in both Japanese and English. And suffice to say, when both Ichijou and Kirisaki see each other, they start yelling at each other and she nails him with a hit after he calls her “monkey girl”. People see how tough she is but to make them get along, his teacher puts Ichijou in charge of showing her around school.

He tries his best but the two are like oil and water, they just don’t get along. For the next week of trying to assist her, the two end up arguing and getting in each other’s faces.

If anything, Ichijou focus is more on finding the lock that was lost when Kirisaki landed on him. And he wonders if Kosaki Onodera, the popular girl in school and a person who has treated him with nothing but kindness is the girl that he made the promise with. He hopes it is her.

But just when Ichijou is about to give up, Onodera pleads with him to keep his promise and Ichijou is reminded that a promise is a promise and he intends to keep it. But wants to ask Onodera if there is any chance she may be the girl he made the promise too.

What he doesn’t know is that Onodera does have a key and she has always liked Ichijou but doesn’t have the guts to tell him.

But as Ichijou wonders if Onodera is the girl he made a promise too and excited for the possibility that it might be, when he gets home, his father talks to him about something important.

The problem is that the Shuei-gumi and another rival yakuza gang are in the brink of all-out war that would damage both yakuza gangs, he and the other leader have come up with the plan. Ichijou must pretend to be dating the daughter of the leader of the opposing yakuza gang.

Ichijou doesn’t want to get involved and his father told him that he must forget dating any other girl and focus liking this girl they set him up with.

When the two are introduces, Ichijou is shocked that the girl is Chitoge Kirisaki. And for both of them, they must promise to be boyfriend and girlfriend for three whole years and be convincing to both yakuza gangs that they are truly in love.

Both don’t want to be involved with each other but they have no choice. But now they must find a way to co-exist with each other as both yakuza gangs are suspicious of their relationship especially Kirisaki’s guardian, Claude.

Meanwhile, Ichijou still wants to ask Onodera if she is the girl with the key and Onodera is about to let him know that she is. But before they can, the whole school are told that both Ichijo and Kirasaki are boyfriend and girlfriend.

And now it has made things tough for both Ichijou and Kirisaki, but can they keep this charade of being in love with each other, especially if they despite one another?

And since then, there are a few other complications as not only Chitoge and Onodera have fallen for Raku, but also Chitoge’s bodyguard Tsugumi and Marika Tachibana, who Raku’s father promised Marika’s father that they would marry?

But while Raku Ichijou and Chitoge Kirisaki are supposed to fake their relationship, Chitoge is starting to realize that with each moment spent with Raku, she is slowly falling in love with him.

For volume 19, Chitoge Kirasaki’s father has told her that she and Raku will no longer need to fake their relationship because she and Tsugumi will be moving back to the United States. This leaves Chitoge to become devastated that she will never ever confess her feelings to Raku and will never be around him and her friends. What last resort will Chitoge and Tsugumi pull in order for them to stay in Japan?

Meanwhile, what happens when Onodera and Raku goes on their first date together during the holidays? And what happens when Marika kidnaps Raku?

For volume 20, the conclusion of Raku and Marika stuck on the island and Raku wanting to know what is really wrong with Marika’s health.

Meanwhile, it’s New Year’s Day and time for Raku and friends to celebrate.

As Raku asks if Chitoge if she likes anyone and she tells him that she does, he suddenly starts to feel jealous.  Why is that?

And Yui receives an order to get married now that she has turned 20-years old.  But when she confesses her feelings to Raku, how will he respond?

With volume 20 of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”, the manga starts to heat up with the series now heading towards its final volumes.

As we have read many volumes and seeing women who have fallen for Raku, I think we are now starting to see the storylines start to narrow down which girl Raku would end up with.

With this storyline, we get to see Raku’s feelings for Chitoge start to intensify as he gets jealous when she tells him that she likes someone (not telling him that it’s him).  And it starts to eat Raku up inside and he doesn’t know why.

But the primary storyline revolves around Yui, who is now turning 20 and she is ordered to get married to fulfill her duty as Don and she must make her first major adult decision or be arranged to marry someone else.

Feeling the pressure, the only person she has had feelings for is Raku and now Yui confesses her love.  But how will he react?

20 volumes in through the series, I really enjoy this manga series because it’s fresh take on the young promise made by youngsters to marry each other and it also has that similarity to “Ranma 1/2” of two people arranged by their parents to be together, although not to be married but to have this fake romance for three years. And then having multiple young ladies vying for his attention.

But with the introduction of other girls who made promises when they were younger, we clearly don’t know which girl Raku promised to marry when he was younger. But with everyone vying for Raku’s attention (and he being totally oblivious to what’s going on), it makes for a very entertaining storyline and series!

The artwork by Naoshi Komi is well-drawn, the series is full of humor and for the most part quite delightful in capturing their emotions on each page. But Naoshi Komi’s manga series has been nothing but delightful and very entertaining!

How will Raku respond to Yui’s confession of love? Meanwhile, Raku gets jealous when Chitoge tells him that she likes a guy. All this and more in this entertaining 20th volume of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”.  Recommended!

Where did the A.E. virus come from, and what is the secret left on Mars by Rahab? The mystery finally begins to be revealed as the last survivors make their final plans. The winners of the great war on Mars will be the ones to return to Earth, but when they do, will they be superhuman saviors or the heralds of a new age of terror?

As theories are proposed about why there are pyramids on Mars, but who is responsible for that technology?  Also, another theory of why the A.E. Virus was created.

Also, the history of Liu Yiwu is revealed!  Also, two mysterious humans with special abilities arrive in a special aircraft on Mars and are there to claim the body of Joseph G. Newton.  All this and more in vol. 17 of “Terra Formars”!

What is “Terra Formars”?

In 2011, writer Yu Sasuga and artist Kenichi Tachibana would create “Terra Formars”, a manga series that would become a major hit in Japan.

First serialized in Shueisha’s “Weekly Young Jump” and an OVA and anime series slated later this year, “Terra Formars” was ranked #1 in the 2013 “Kono Manga ga Sugoi!” top 20 Manga for Male Readers survey.

With nine tankobon volumes published in Japan, “Terra Formars” vol. 1 will be released in the United States in July 2014 courtesy of Viz Media (on the Viz Signature imprint).

With Earth looking to colonize Mars which is undergoing its final stages of Terraforming and now becoming a green planet, a group of 15 men and women have been sent to Mars to check on the Terraformation of the planet.

Meanwhile, on Earth, the planet is falling into ruin due to environmental destruction and energy shortages, so Mars has been the focus by scientists.

Scientists have used moss and a black organism to darken the surface of the planet and causing it to absorb more sunlight, increase temperatures and melting the carbon dioxide.

The black organism used by scientists were cockroaches.

As the 15 men and women of BUGS 2 arrive on the planet on their mission to evaluate the planet but also to find out what happened to the first crew (BUGS 1) that landed on the planet.

The team discover that the Terraforming has succeeded but to their shock, the cockroaches have mutated with human bodies.

As the Japanese members, Shokichi Komachi and his childhood friend Nanao Akita try to make contact with one of the beings, the humanoid cockroach snaps Nanao’s neck.

And now the humans have become the hunted.

Because the cockroaches exhibit all abilities of a cockroach, it was learned that scientists embedded human DNA in them and their mutation has made them beings that would not just survive in Mars but also exhibiting human characteristics and a hatred towards humanity (as humanity has had a hatred towards cockroaches).

But humanity also has found a way for humans to counteract the cockroaches by using injections of insects on humans that will briefly give them insect powers. But is it enough for the humans to survive in Mars as they are now considered the pests for the planet in which the humanoid cockroaches are the primary species?

In volume 17, we start to learn more about the countries that conspired to sabotage the mission.  But there a few theories that the Earthlings in Mars are wondering about.  Who created the pyramids and why is the A.E. virus inside of it?

Meanwhile, two humans with special abilities have shown up and are now wanting the body of Joseph G. Newton?  Why do they want his body?  Meanwhile, we find out what happened to the crew that came with Joseph G. Newton on Mars.

Just when you thought that there were enough complicated factors in “Terra Formars”, volume 17 gives us more answers, but poses more questions in regards to the countries or country that may be involved in the true sabotage of the Annex before it approached Mars.

The volume also showcases the past of Liu Yiwu and a storyline of two mysterious humans that have appeared on Mars, demanding the body of Joseph G. Newton or else they will kill everyone.

The artwork by Ken-Ichi Tachibana is magnificent. Characters are well-detailed, artwork is just pleasing and the action is well-featured. And of course, the writing and research done by Yu Sasuga has really made “Terraformars” a fascinating and captivating series.

Overall, “Terraformars” is an exciting, violent but addictive series that I am always looking forward to! As humanity depends on the survivors on Mars, how will Earth’s only survivors of the mission survive another day on Mars without medicine and advanced weaponry? But with the advancement of the Terraformars, who have now unleashed a terrifying onslaught on the humans.  Who was responsible for letting the Terraformars sabotage the annex?  Who are the two mysterious beings that appeared on Mars?  Find out what happens in Vol. 17 of “Terra Formars”!

As for Marika, being jealous that Kirisaki and Onodera gets to spend time with Raku.  She steps things up by kidnapping Raku and taking him to her family’s secluded island.  But when Raku gets a message from her bodyguard that he needs to make a decision and let her know how he feels, because she doesn’t have much time left.  What does that mean?

For volume 18, Chitoge Kirasaki’s father tells her that she and Raku will no longer need to fake their relationship because she and Tsugumi will be moving back to the United States.  This leaves Chitoge to become devastated that she will never ever confess her feelings to Raku and will never be around him and her friends.  Meanwhile, what happens when the group go on a trip to Kyoto?

With volume 18 of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”, the manga focuses on Kirisaki finding out from her father that the fake relationship between her and Raku is coming to an end as he would like her to move closer to her mother in the United States.

In essence, this means Seishiro Tsugumi and also her rival Paula would be moving as well.

Devastated and trying to find ways to stay in Japan, can Kirisaki find a way to stay with Raku and her friends?  Meanwhile, another storyline features Raku, Chitoge and classmates going on a trip to Kyoto.  Will this trip go smoothly?

18 volumes in through the series, I really enjoy this manga series because it’s fresh take on the young promise made by youngsters to marry each other and it also has that similarity to “Ranma 1/2” of two people arranged by their parents to be together, although not to be married but to have this fake romance for three years.

If you have been following “Nisekoi: False Love” all this time, what happens when Kirisaki is told that she will be moving back to the United States and will be leaving Raku and her friends in this entertaining 18th volume of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”. Highly recommended!

All this and more in Naoshi Komi’s hit manga series, “Nisekoi: False Love” vol. 17!

But while Raku Ichijou and Chitoge Kirisaki are supposed to fake their relationship, Chitoge is starting to realize that with each moment spent with Raku, she is slowly falling in love with him.

For volume 17, Raku and Onodera visit her aunt’s home but what happens when they must spend the night together in the same room

It’s the School Sports Festival but can Raku and Kirisaki win as a team?

Meanwhile, Raku is worried about Yui and notices that something is wrong with her?  Is something going on with her health?

When Kirisaki wants oyakodon, Tsugumi has never made it before and asks Raku for help.  And Raku learns why Tsugumi and Kirisaki have a bond.

And it’s time for the class vacation and this time it’s in Kyoto, but when thunder arrives and Kirisaki who is scared of thunder must sleep the night with Raku, how will they behave?

With volume 17 of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”, the manga focuses on alone time with Raku.

The first story features Onodera with Raku alone together at her aunt’s lodge and the two having to sleep together and even share the hot springs together?  how will that work out?

Another storyline with Kirisaki, features Raku and Kirisaki having to participate together in the school’s festival.  But also, while on a trip to Kyoto, when Kirisaki goes to visit him and thunder appears, she has no choice but to stay with Raku for the night but how will that experience be?

With Tsugumi, Kirisaki asks for Oyakodon and with Tsugumi wanting to make that dish and not knowing how, she goes to Raku for help.  And he gets to learn why she feels indebted to Kirisaki.

And we also get to learn more about the relationship betwen Raku and Yui and Raku’s concern for her when her health appears to be in bad shape?  What is going on with Yui and can Raku help?

17 volumes in through the series, I really enjoy this manga series because it’s fresh take on the young promise made by youngsters to marry each other and it also has that similarity to “Ranma 1/2” of two people arranged by their parents to be together, although not to be married but to have this fake romance for three years. Mankind’s final nightmare has become reality—the Terraformars have reached Earth! While the world’s governments scramble to deal with the situation, humanity’s best hope, the members of the Annex 1 expedition, are still trapped on Mars. Getting back to Earth is now not just humanity’s only hope for survival, it’s a race against time!

Back in “Terra Formars” vol. 1, we got a glimpse of the Terra Formars having reached Planet Earth, but since then, we have not seen any mention of how this came to be?  That is until this latest volume 14 of “Terra Formars” as a war on Earth between humankind and the Terra Formars has become a reality.

Meanwhile, back on Mars, the crew under Kuzuryu have captured Akari and Michelle and their plan now is to destroy everyone surviving member of UNASA on Mars.

Why does Kuzuryu want Akari and Michelle so badly?

In volume 2 of “Terra Formars”, the manga is set 20-years later and Shokichi Komachi is now the new head of U-NASA. As one of the few survivors to escape from Mars and survive the cockroach onslaught, the Earth he has returned to is not just facing an overpopulation problem but also a widespread virus that came from Mars.

The bad news that the only way to stop it is to confirm the existence of the virus and determine its type and bring it back to Earth in hopes to create a vaccine.

But will Shokichi find a new group of people willing to sacrifice their lives for humanity by going to Mars and prepare for the onslaught of cockroach/humans that have infested the planet and want nothing more than to kill the humans?

As the Terraformars have invaded the spacecraft of Annex 1, it becomes a battle of survival as the recruits must prepare for a crash landing on Mars, but to find out that not only have Earth’s recruits have evolved, so have the Terraformars!

In volume 4, the officers come across different types of Terraformars that somehow have other insect abilities. Did they evolve that way or is someone responsible for the insects becoming bipedal humanoid.

And in volume 5, learning that these Terraformars have managed to evolve possible with other insects that were kept behind on Bugs 2. And now, Adolf Reinhad of Germany and his crew must survive in their fight against them.

In volume 6, the onslaught by the Terraformars continues and as the Division 1 has no extra serum to continue fighting or heal themselves, can the team of Lt. Davis and Alex save Division 1 in time?

Meanwhile, it appears there is a traitor amongst U-NASA and that the Terraformars are much more developed than expected.

In volume 7, it is revealed who the traitors who sabotaged the U-NASA mission and why they did it. As Divisions 1 and 2 finally regroup and plan their next strategy, back on Earth, we see how nations are politically corrupt and are working in their own personal best interests and their thoughts of even rescuing the divisions on Mars.

Low on medicine, low on weaponry, will the surviving divisions have any chance of survival on Mars?

In volume 8, the Chinese have revealed that they were never on anyone’s side and are in control of the lab and annex. And with the Chinese feeling they can eliminate all other teams sent by various countries, the Russians are the first to arrive and take them on.

Who will win in this fierce battle? And what about the Terra Formars?

In volume 9, the Chinese are in pursuit of the USA and Japan teams, while Russia who are incapacitated are behind. Meanwhile, the Rome team are also being ambushed.

In order to create a diversion, both Michelle K. Davis and Akari Hizamaru must fight with all their might to take on two powerful Terra Formars they have faced yet…a ground beetle and a bullet ant in humanoid version.

In volume 10, members of the USA and Japan team have been captured and Bao of the Chinese group plans to bring them back to their HQ. As the group is good as dead, may it be due to the swarming Terraformars that await them or being experimented on, the top ranked crew member, Joseph G. Newton manages to arrive in time. But can one man save the captured?

In volume 11 as Keiji and Division 1 try to infiltrate the HQ occupied by the Chinese delegation. But the Chinese are waiting for them and preparing to kill them off. As Division 1 makes their goal to send a signal back home, Keiji must become the diversion to fight the Chinese delegation.

Meanwhile, Terra Formars are also planning to do their own sneak attack upon the station.

In volume 12, all hell has broken loose as the USA/Japan team were confronted not only my the Chinese delegation but unbeknownst to all of them is that a huge swarm of Terra Formars have been unleashed on the station.

Meanwhile, major sacrifices have taken place and a few main characters do not make it alive.

In volume 13, the USA and Japan team not only have to fend off the huge swarm of Terra Formars but also a Chinese delegation send to kill all teams and have the Chinese team escape the planet.

But what the Chinese team were not expecting is the reawakening of Akari Hizamaru’s ability, but even more surprising is the return of Germany’s Adolf Reinhard and Eva Frost, who were long thought were dead. How is this possible?

In volume 14, Earth is now under the attack of powerful Terra Formars and Kuzuryu has captured Akari and Michelle.  But what does Kuzuryu want with these two?

Just when you thought that there were enough complicated factors in “Terra Formars”, volume 14 has now shown us that Earth is now in war with the Terra Formars!

You would think that a mass population of humans, the aliens don’t have much of a chance, but somehow these aliens are much too powerful than humankind had ever thought.

Meanwhile, the storyline of Kuzuryu capturing Akari and Michelle continues.  But unbeknown to both, someone will come to their aid.

Not just on Mars but now on Earth.

It’s a chaotic battle of survival on Planet Earth and on Planet Mars.  Find out what happens in Vol. 14 of “Terra Formars”. Recommended!

The colonization of Mars by humanity is an epoch-making event, but an unintended side effect of the terraforming process unleashes a horror no one could ever have imagined…

The Annex 1 survivors find themselves fighting on all fronts against the Chinese forces sent from earth to wipe them out. A plan is formulated to rescue the Annex 1 crew, but to carry it out, they’ll have to cross through hostile territory while under assault all the way!

New recruits have been selected and a powerful group of officers that are part of Annex 1 are on their way to Mars, but to the surprise of anyone onboard, the Terraformars have gotten aboard and now it’s a fight for survival in the spacecraft traveling to Mars.

As the onslaught of Terraformars have killed many of the officers of Annex 1, but those who have survived and fought back against the humanoid/cockroaches are now starting to discover that it’s not just cockroaches that are on the planet, other insects are also on Mars and each of them have fighting capabilities.

It was revealed that the Chinese delegation have been working against everyone and are the true traitors and are trying to kill off the other countries officers.

And while a message was sent out about China being the traitors, unknown to the others is that a group was sent and flying to Mars to kill everyone.

But to the surprise of everyone, Akari Hizamaru’s ability has suddenly awakened after Michelle K. Davis is on death’s door.

But even more surprising is the return of Germany’s Adolf Reinhard and Eva Frost, who were long thought were dead.  How is this possible?

And also a big reveal of a new Terra Formar species…the zombie ant fungi.

Just when you thought that there were enough complicated factors in “Terra Formars”, now we have the German delegation coming back alive and we learn more about the top secret procedures that Germany has done with their branch of U-Nasa.

Volume 13 also features Akari Hizamaru trying to protect the survivors from the swarm of terraformars and the enemy soldiers that have secretly arrived on the planet to kill all humans and bring the Chinese delegation back home.

The action is quite fierce and Akari now has help from Eva Frost, the chances of survival are still slim against the new onslaught of China’s mercenaries.

Can the US, Japan and German teams survive the onslaught?

The artwork by Ken-Ichi Tachibana is magnificent. Characters are well-detailed, artwork is just pleasing and the action is well-featured. And of course, the writing and research done by Yu Sasuga has really made “Terraformars” a fascinating and captivating series.

Overall, “Terraformars” is an exciting, violent but addictive series that I am always looking forward to! As humanity depends on the survivors on Mars, how will Earth’s only survivors of the mission survive another day on Mars without medicine and advanced weaponry? But with the advancement of the Terraformars, who have now unleashed a terrifying onslaught on the humans and traitorous delegations trying to off all humans, who survives and who dies in this latest volume?

Find out in Vol. 13 of “Terra Formars”. Recommended!

All this and more in Naoshi Komi’s hit manga series, “Nisekoi: False Love” vol. 16!

It was also one of the first manga to receive an English translation online courtesy of Shueisha and a total of 16 volumes have been released since then.

For volume 16, there are a few individual stories that revolve around Yui becoming a music teacher, Tsugumi having to deal with a sleep-inducing perfume, Tachibana wanting to squash her fear of animals and Ruri wanting to know who Maiko has a crush for.  But the primary storyline is a life swap in which Chitoge Kirisaki meets the Princess of Nonbiri, who looks exactly like her.  And with the Princess wanting to enjoy life as a normal teenager for the day, how will her day with Raku be when Kirisaki and the Princess switch places?

With volume 16 of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”, the manga focuses on a swap of lifestyle between lookalikes, Kirisaki Chitoge and Princess Nonbiri.

The Princess has ran away from the hotel where she was staying in hopes to see how a normal life of a teenager in Japan is and when she is found by Raku and Kirisaki, Kirisaki is shocked of how she and the princess look exactly alike.

Wanting to give the Princess the opportunity to enjoy a normal life for a day and Kirisaki to see how life would be as a princess, how will this life swap turnout between the two?

And also many more stories involving Marika, Yui, Kosaki, Ruri and Seishiro in this latest 16th volume.

17 volumes in through the series, I really enjoy this manga series because it’s fresh take on the young promise made by youngsters to marry each other and it also has that similarity to “Ranma 1/2” of two people arranged by their parents to be together, although not to be married but to have this fake romance for three years.

If you have been following “Nisekoi: False Love” all this time, what happens when Kirisaki and her look-alike, Princess Nonbiri switch places in this entertaining 16th volume of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”. Highly recommended!

For volume 15, Yui wants to know the truth between Chitoge and Raku. Meanwhile, she also wants the others to reveal their true crush.

Why is Marika giving Raku the cold shoulder?  Also, a journalist named Mimiko Kiki wants to interview Chitoge in regards to her relationship with Raku.

Meanwhile, it’s Bonyari High School’s School Festival and students will compete in a costume contest.  With the judges to be Raku and Chitoge.  Who will win?

With volume 15 of Naoshi Komi’s “Nisekoi: False Love”, the manga focuses on Yui Kanakura, as she wants to know more about Raku and Chitoge, and whether or not they are really dating.  Because Yui is also in love with Raku, despite him being a younger man and his homeroom teacher.

Marika feels that her usual ways of getting Raku’s attention is not working out that great, so she reads an article that by playing hard to get or cold to someone you like, may make them love you even more.  So, she decides to give Raku the cold shoulder…but will it work?

In a small story, a sharp investigative journalist wants to pry into the relationship between Chitoge and Raku and find out if they are really dating each other.

Also, Ruri is trying to let go of her feelings for Raku, considering her sister Kosaki is in love with him.  But when she tries to forget about him, she finds herself in a costume battle against her older sister, with Raku being the judge.  Will Raku choose her or Kosaki as the winner?

15 volumes in through the series, I really enjoy this manga series because it’s fresh take on the young promise made by youngsters to marry each other and it also has that similarity to “Ranma 1/2” of two people arranged by their parents to be together, although not to be married but to have this fake romance for three years.
