Face Off also drew 639,000 Adults 18-34, another series high and the best performance for any Syfy original series since November ‘09.
Leading off at 9PM (ET/PT), the season eight premiere of Ghost Hunters terrified 2.0 million total viewers, 1.1 million Adults 25-54 and 1.0 million Adults 18-49, while averaging a 1.4 household rating. The iconic paranormal series was up 16 percent in total viewers and 10 percent in Adults 25-54 versus the Season 7 premiere (February 2011).
The one-two programming punch propelled Syfy to the #4 cable entertainment network in Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, #6 in total viewers and #7 in Adults 25-54 in Wednesday prime (8-11PM), while Syfy.com posted its best day in video streams since July 2011.
Last night’s premiere episode of Face Off introduced 14 up-and-coming special effects make-up artists, including the Viewer’s Choice winner, RJ Haddy from Charleston, West Virginia, who impressed fans with his work during a live make-up challenge at the 2011 Comic-Con in San Diego.
Face Off continues with an all-new, one-hour episode next Wednesday, January 18 at 10PM. The contestants are brought to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific and learn their Spotlight Challenge is to select a fish that serves as inspiration for an original sea creature makeup. But there’s a twist: the creatures will be unveiled in a massive water tank on stage in front of the judges. The teams immediately get to work trying to create make-ups that are not only beautiful but also waterproof. Face Off is a production of Mission Control Media with Michael Agbabian and Dwight D. Smith serving as executive producers.
In October 2004, Syfy introduced Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson — plumbers by day, Ghost Hunters by night. Jason and Grant head up TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), a close-knit organization of volunteer paranormal researchers — ordinary people who investigate and attempt to debunk claims of otherworldly activity. Throughout its run, Ghost Hunters has set the standard for paranormal investigating and has cemented its place as a destination for spine-tingling entertainment! Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International are produced in association with Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Films and Television (Dirty Jobs, The Ultimate Fighter, My Fair Wedding). Piligian and Thomas Thayer, along with Mike Nichols and Alan David, serve as executive producers.

NEW YORK – May 16, 2011 – Ghosts and spirits inhabit more than just homes and buildings – they can also possess objects. In the new Syfy reality series Haunted Collector, which will premiere Wednesday, June 1, at 9PM (ET/PT), a family of paranormal investigators hunt down haunted items bedeviling their owners.
For more than 30 years, eminent paranormal researcher John Zaffis has been a collector. But not of stamps, coins or comic books. He collects objects that have become home to paranormal spirits and/or energy. Each week he and his family help out someone who’s being terrorized by something in their own home. They research the history of objects found in the home and try to identify what is causing the problem.
Along with his son Chris, daughter Aimee, and paranormal investigators Beth Ezzo and Brian Cano, Zaffis, author of the critically acclaimed book “Shadows of the Dark,” tracks down haunted items ranging from Civil War era weapons to strange antiques and unusual toys.
Once identified, the items are collected in his paranormal museum in Stratford, Connecticut, where he displays them for safe keeping, while ensuring they are specially stored to keep their powers at bay. Zaffis has also buried certain items in the foundation of the museum to neutralize the negative energy that can emanate from these haunted objects.
Zaffis and his team employ a number of different hi-tech gear to capture paranormal energy/activity, from video and audio recorders and EMF (Electro-Magnetic Field) meters to FLIR cameras which measure temperature fluctuations to a tenth of a degree.
Additionally, they use a variety of “low-tech” methods for their investigations such as talcum powder, wheeled toys and ropes to detect movement of suspected supernatural objects.
Haunted Collector is produced by Gurney Productions. Executive producers are Scott Gurney and Dierdre Gurney.
Following Haunted Collector is the return of all-new summer episodes of Hollywood Treasure featuring Joe Maddalena – the most prominent auctioneer of original movie, television and pop culture memorabilia. Two half-hour episodes air back-to-back starting Wednesday, June 1, at 10PM and 10:30PM (ET/PT). In the new episodes, Maddalena tracks down one-of-a-kind pieces from Forbidden Planet, Back to the Future and Lost in Space. He also works with Debbie Reynolds, who entrusts Joe with the task of selling her multi-million dollar collection.
To kick off the evening of debuts, Syfy will present a special episode of Ghost Hunters, featuring a case from the team’s very first trip to Hawaii. Special guest Josh Gates (Destination Truth) joins the team as they investigate paranormal claims at the Pacific Aviation Museum in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The museum’s original plane hangars stand as they did on the fateful morning of December 7, 1941, and still bear the bullet holes and bomb craters from the attacks that precipitated U.S. involvement in World War II. Visitors and employees alike have reported several startling experiences at the museum, suggesting that the site’s history has made it a hub for paranormal activity.

TV Talk: Wednesday, December 3rd – Ghost Hunters, Shatner’s Raw Nerve
December 4, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
What can I say? I’m getting addicted to “Ghost Hunters” on the Sci-Fi channel. Next week is the season finale but for what I’ve seen this season, now I want to go back and watch all the episodes from the previous season.
The show is about a group known as The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) and they go to residences, ships and anywhere that has had high concentration of paranormal activity. The group comes with a team and during the late hours and the wee morning the team sets up cameras and also with equipment to record temperature drops (Because spirits or ghosts tend to suck energy from areas and thus create a cold spot), to EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) and thermal imagery and all this equipment to thoroughly check a place out and see if they can communicate with the spirit or whatever it is.
In Season 4, Episode 11 titled “Spirits of the Water”, TAPS checks out ships that people have heard footsteps or heard things. One of the ships is the “Star of India”, a windjammer ship created back in 1863 and were people have died. So, you can see the team hear noises and possibly see something. Freaky!
Again, I love this show and look forward to more seasons and even Ghost Hunters International and whatever they have planned on Sci Fi.
After “Ghost Hunters”, I found myself watching the Bio Channel and checking on William Shatner’s talk show “Shatner’s Raw Nerve”. The show has a new episode every Tuesday but I checked out the Tim Allen (episode 2) last night and I had no idea that Tim Allen went to prison on a drug charge. But it’s great to see the interaction between both men and also Tim Allen talking about how he changed his life.
And the first episode with Valerie Bertinelli, I was wondering at first if Mr. Shatner hit a nerve especially when he would discuss the religion and come back to her. It felt a little “akward” but needless to say, I’m hooked. Look forward to Shatner’s upcoming episodes with Jenna Jameson and Jimmy Kimmel next Tuesday.
But Shatner also issued George Takei an invitation on “Raw Nerve” and I think it would be great for the ratings and I’m sure the entertainment sites would go crazy with Shatner and Takei discussing these differences these two had especially in the past few months. They need to work it out!
TV Talk: Wednesday (November 19, 2008) – GHOST HUNTERS in Clovis

Had a busy work night reviewing DVD’s, so I was unable to watch a lot of TV on Wednesday night but did manage to check out the latest episode of “GHOST HUNTERS” on Sci-Fi channel and this time, they go to Clovis, California and Salem, Massachusetts. But the episode in Clovis was just unreal.

The TAPS team go to the Clovis Sanitarium where there are many reports of supernatural activity and sure enough, the team gets their clearest communication from a spirit with a clear voice. SCARY!
Man, this show is so scary and if ghost stories peak your interest, you definitely have to check out “GHOST HUNTERS” on Wednesday’s.
That was all that I was able to watch on Wednesday.
TV Talk: Sunday musings (Nov. 9, 2008) – Life After People, Ghost Hunters,

With the Dallas Cowboys on their bye-week, it gave me some time to catch up on a lot of TV episodes that I have DVR’d.
Finally caught up with “My Own Worst Enemy” ep. 3 titled “Hello Henry” starring Christian Slater. Wow!… The show is an interesting concept as two different people occupy the same body. One who is a businessman (Henry Spivey) by day and the other a hard-edged trained agent/killer (Edward Albright) by night. But in this case, somehow the control to switch the two personas have gone awry as now they switch personas whenever and it’s causing problems for each persona.
In this episode, Henry goes to his friend, a doctor to conduct an x-ray to see if his brain has been implanted. And sure enough, his friend finds the chip. But sure enough, when Edward finds out that Henry went to seek a doctor, Edward kills him. Thus setting up an awkward confrontation by the two personas. Again, these personas occupy the same body. That’s what makes this show so unique!

Another interesting show I caught was a documentary on the History Channel titled “Life After People“. An interesting scientific study of what would happen if humans were eliminated from the planet. What would happen to the buildings and the animals and so forth.
This was very interesting to watch as they show a progression from 50, 150, 500, 1000 years into the future after humans are gone from the planet. They show how major cities that are not renovated or kept maintained will simply be destroyed by the elements and how literally cities such as New York, Seattle, Paris would return to its original state of vegetation and streams.
Also, an interesting point made is how history is backed up. Egyptians and ancient cultures typically used rock or a hard surface to depict their history and has held up for thousands of years. While in America, we currently look toward’s DVDs or some technology that will not be able to last for thousands of years. Also, how libraries, since their is no humans to maintain the temperature, mold will literally destroy all books.
I also found the theories of animals to be quite interesting. Cats would be the major animals (since they spawn like crazy) and would feed on the rats and birds that are all over the planet. While dogs actually revert back to their old ways as they mate with wolves and thus become wild animals in packs that feast on large animals.
Also, an interesting theory is how animals adjust to certain conditions and habitat. Would cats be a flying animal by then? Hmm…
Also, the animals of the sea would grow in population since there are no humans to pollute or capture them for food.
I then caught up with DVR’d episodes of “Ghost Hunters”. Wow! In these episodes, the group team up with several celebrities. But one of the interesting situations was during the live episode in which one of the major team member’s collar is pulled. Man, this place is creepy!
Probably catch DVR “Desperate Housewives” and watch George Cloonie’s “LEATHERHEADS” for the night.
TV Talk: Wednesday Musings, October 29th – Ghost Hunters, Real Housewives of Atlanta
October 31, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
On Wednesday, I started off my TV early evening with “Ghost Hunters” on the SCI FI Channel. There is something about this show that I can’t stop it. Pretty much the show is about a group called TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) led by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson that visits haunted establishments and with their high tech equipment, try to see if they can find out if the place is haunted or if there is supernatural activity.
In this new episode (Season 4, episode 22), the team and actor Colin Ferguson from the SCI FI channel show “Eureka” (who joins the team in the search for the supernatural) investigate the USS Hornet which many crewmen feel they have experienced supernatural activity.
Definitely have to give Colin Ferguson some props for actually being a part of this investigation and really into it. Was great to see that!
I also caught more of “The Real Housewives from Atlanta” on Bravo. Yikes! I’ve missed quite a few episodes but I’m guessing unlike Orange County in which the women are friends (or at least friendly to each other), some of the women on these show don’t care for each other. But I’ll probably need to catch up on these shows…but what’s up NBC, put more of the complete Bravo episodes up on hulu.com.
That was pretty much the extent of my TV watching as Wednesday’s TV is dedicated for the wife solely for “Top Model” and “America’s Top Model”.
