LOS ANGELES, Calif. — April 11, 2012 – “American Ninja Warrior,” the heart-racing and action-packed obstacle course competition series, returns this May to G4 on Sunday, May 20 (9-11 p.m. ET) and to NBC on Monday, May 21 (9-11 p.m. ET). The two networks have teamed up to search across country for the ultimate athlete to be crowned the first, true “American Ninja Warrior.” From schoolteachers to firemen to police officers to social workers, this competition gives everyday men and women the chance to transform into fearless acrobatic competitors at the six regional qualifying competitions held throughout the U.S. 100 finalists will have a shot at a $500,000 cash prize and the chance to win the coveted “American Ninja Warrior” title at the national finals in Las Vegas.

Comedian Matt Iseman (“Dumbest Stuff on Wheels,” “Clean House”) returns with his energetic, charismatic style as host and is joined this season by Olympic gold medalist Jonny Moseley, whose experience as an extreme sports athlete brings a unique and colorful perspective to the show. Angela Sun (“Yahoo! Sports Minute,” NBC’s “1st Look”) will serve as the sideline reporter giving fans an up-close look at the course and its competitors.

New episodes will air Sundays on G4 (9-11 p.m. ET) and Mondays (9-11 p.m. ET) on NBC (except on July 2) throughout the run of the series. A full broadcast schedule is listed below.

Each qualifying round begins with roughly 125 aspiring ninjas taking a stab at a first-round, preliminary course. As each of the obstacles get tougher, the 30 fastest competitors from the first round will move on to the regional finals. From there, the top 15 will then be deemed worthy enough to head to Las Vegas to take on the infamous final obstacle course, which is modeled after the original “insurmountable” course in Japan. The brand-new final obstacle course structure is located on the Las Vegas strip and presents the same near-impossible challenges as the Japanese original. G4 and NBC collaborated with the original Japanese broadcaster, Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS), to bring the course and its diabolical designs to the U.S.

The competition kicks off in Southern California’s historic Venice Beach boardwalk, where athletes from the Southwest and Northwest regions test themselves on the arduous course. From there, the action shifts to Dallas as the South-Central and Midwest competitors get their shot at fame and fortune. The nationwide-ninja tour concludes in Miami as the Northeast and Southeast regions get their chance to compete in the grand finale in Las Vegas, as the top 100 ninjas square off against the world’s hardest obstacle course.

“American Ninja Warrior” is executive-produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions’ founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed (“Hell’s Kitchen,” “I Survived a Japanese Game Show,” “Pros vs. Joes”) along with Lake Paradise Entertainment’s Holly Wofford and Viki Cacciatore.

“X-Men” Series Premiere Comes on the Heels of Hit Marvel Original Anime Series “Iron Man” and “Wolverine” on G4

LOS ANGELES, September 14, 2011 – This summer, G4 and Marvel teamed up to bring legions of fans their favorite Super Heroes with the original Marvel anime series, “Iron Man” and “Wolverine.” Next up, Marvel’s most popular team of mutants will tear up the small screen when G4 premieres 12 half-hour weekly episodes of the new original anime series “X-Men” this fall, bringing even more action, drama, and high energy anime heroics. Featuring the voice of actor Scott Porter (“The Good Wife,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Caprica”) as Cyclops, “X-Men” premieres Friday October 21st at 11pm ET/PT. The fourth anime series as part of G4 and Marvel’s exclusive partnership, “Blade,” will premiere this winter.
Actor Scott Porter takes on the title role in “X-Men” as the voice of Cyclops, the optic-force blasting deputy leader of the team. In the series, the X-MEN are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to track down Hisako Ichiki, a missing teenage girl in Northern Japan. There, they encounter the fanatical and anti-mutant group, U-MEN, and discover what was important enough for Xavier to bring them back together. The answer is something that could potentially bridge the gap between mutants and humans, or tear the two species apart forever.

Currently airing Fridays from 11PM to Midnight, Marvel original anime series “Iron Man” and “Wolverine” have been ratings successes for G4. The most recent outing on Friday 11PM-12AM delivered the block’s strongest ratings across the board, jumping +50% over the August 2010 time period average with homes and climbing +75% among Total Viewers. Ten-Episode Season Premieres Sunday, July 31 at 8PM ET/PT on G4 and Continues Throughout August Culminating with a Two-hour Special Primetime Finale Episode from Japan Airing on NBC

LOS ANGELES – June 30, 2011 – “American Ninja Warrior,” G4’s biggest and most successful original program to date, returns this July to give fans the ultimate “Ninja Warrior” competition featuring harder U.S. trials and more accomplished competitors which, together, combine for intense obstacles, heart-racing tests and stunning upsets.

To match the mounting difficulty this season, G4 has upped the bounty, offering the chance to win a $500,000 K∙Swiss endorsement contract for the U.S. competitor who can finish all four stages of the finals in Japan, along with becoming the face of a nationwide advertising campaign for K∙Swiss and G4. From its premiere in December 2009, “American Ninja Warrior” has been a ratings powerhouse and staple of G4’s original programming, with a record-breaking season two delivering over 8 million unique viewers in December 2010.

Matt Iseman (Host of Versus’ “Sports Soup”) and MMA Fighter and Belator Fighting Championship commentator Jimmy Smith will return as co-hosts along with G4’s own Alison Haislip (“Attack of the Show,” NBC’s “The Voice”) providing reports from the grueling tryouts and main event in Japan. Since it began in 1997, Ninja Warrior (or Sasuke, as it’s known in Japan), has only seen three competitors out of 2,600 ever successfully complete all four stages – none of whom were American. Last year, the second season of “American Ninja Warrior” concluded with four of the ten Americans making it as far as the third stage, only to fall victim to the world’s most unforgiving obstacle course. No competitor, American or otherwise, successfully achieved “total victory” last year. This season, ten Americans will again get the chance to use the skills they have trained for and acquired in the hopes to become the first American to be crowned a true Ninja Warrior. The quest starts Sunday, July 31 at 8 PM ET/PT only on G4.

Viewers will watch the path to international superstardom from the very beginning, starting with the arduous U.S. trials in Venice, California as a more than 300 athletes are pared down to the top 15. From there, these 15 contestants will be whisked away to a remote mountain training facility in California and tested with the toughest boot camp ever created. Only the ten strongest and most iron-willed will remain at the end of the boot camp and move on to stand before the feared and dreaded four-stage course in Mt. Midoriyama, Japan.

Joining the top ten in Japan to compete in the Ninja Warrior obstacle course will be the winning bidder of the public auction set up by G4 and the Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS), who produces Sasuke (“Ninja Warrior”), in May. The auction raised thousands of dollars for the American Red Cross’ earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan and, while not eligible for the K∙Swiss endorsement contract, gives the winning bidder the once-in-a-lifetime chance to conquer the world’s most diabolical obstacle course alongside the elite athletes they have watched for years.

The series follows the risk-taking Dunn and the gorgeous Chobot, along with a dream team of experts, specialists and prop masters from the worlds of film and television, who assist the two in determining if great pop culture moments can be executed in real life through action-oriented trials, stunts and experiments. Once the best strategies and tactics are determined, all plans and materials are then taken to the “Proving Ground” to be executed and reveal once and for all if the pop culture moment in question can in fact happen in real life.

However this crew is not all work and no play so watch your back – there’s no end to the pranks that get played along the way. Sometimes all the right elements come together to create that perfect moment from your favorite movies, TV shows and videogames, but other times our attempts takes us all down a hilarious – and sometimes disastrous – path.

In the new series, viewers will watch as Ryan and Jessica set out to answer the following questions through large-scale real-life experiments:

Is it possible to give a real go-kart the power ups found in the Super Mario Kart so the game can function in real life?

Is it possible to engineer flying brooms and balls with brains and put on a quidditch type match from the Harry Potter movies?

Is it possible to simulate an ‘away’ mission similar to the original Star Trek series including teleportation, phasers and the Vulcan nerve pinch?

Hosts:

Jessica Chobot became an overnight Internet sensation when a literal tongue-in-cheek modeling photo of her appeared online licking the Sony PSP. Jessica has been working with gaming website IGN.com as host, field reporter, features and review contributor as well as freelancing for G4 as a fill-in co-host for “Attack of the Show!”

Ryan Dunn is best known for being a member of The Jackass Crew, MTV’s Viva La Bam, and Homewrecker. A member of the CKY Crew, Dunn played the main character in Bam Margera’s film Haggard, which was based on a failed relationship Ryan had experienced.
