EXTRAS:

I know for my family and I would assume for many other families, “Dora the Explorer” has helped a lot of children. May it be to introduce them to Spanish or increasing their decision making skills, the series continues to be popular in America and in other countries.

And with the release of the “Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Ice Skating Spectacular!”, fans of the series and parents who are looking for a safe educational video for their young children.

This latest video features a music driven ice skating episode thanks to the addition of special guest star Hilary Duff and you get two bonus “Dora the Explorer” episodes.

My young son literally grew up in his young toddler years watching Dora and through this series, it was very helpful in helping him develop skills on decision making and also learning a little Spanish. And I’m a true believer that these educational children’s shows is one of the reasons why he is doing so well in school.

I can easily remember watching him and seeing him really get into the series and taking part in the challenges. And now he’s older, doing exceptionally well in school but he has done well since kindergarten and even pre-school and I would like to think that children’s series such as “Dora the Explorer” were one of the reasons for why he is doing well.

Where most of the “Dora the Explorer” TV shows have been instrumental in teaching children Spanish and counting as well as teamwork, the same can be said about this latest DVD.  It helps children with their decision making and for the most part, for parents, “Dora the Explorer” DVD’s are cheap and for the winter time, will keep their children busy for 69 minutes.

Overall, “Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Ice Skating Spectacular!” is another fun and educational DVD for parents or relatives looking for safe, educational episodes for their young child. Recommended!

To get back on the nice list, Dora must help Swiper travel to the past, the present, and the future to discover the true spirit of Christmas. Will you help too?

It’s time for another Christmas special with “Dora the Explorer” in the new Nickelodeon DVD “Dora’s Christmas Carol”. The DVD version includes six minutes of additional footage that was not shown on television.

With Dora and friends preparing for another fun Christmas and await their presents from Santa Claus, Swiper the Fox steals the Christmas star and nearly topples the Christmas tree on all the food. Because of his bad deed, Swiper the Fox finds out that he has been put on the naughty list and will not receive any Christmas presents which makes Swiper the Fox sad. With Swiper sad, Dora wants to help him get his presents for Christmas.

Fortunately, Santa Claus gives Swiper a chance to right his wrongs by going on in adventures in which he finds the true spirit of Christmas. If he does a good deed, a Christmas card with a tree will have its missing ornaments and star will magically fill up. And if he accomplishes that, he will then get his Christmas gift.

But in order to accomplish those deeds, he will need help from Dora the Explorer and the grumpy Troll that lives under the bridge and will have to back to the past and into the future and visit themselves and do a good deed on Christmas but most importantly, Swiper must do all he can to stop himself from swiping on Christmas.

Watch as Dora and Swiper visit themselves in the past when Dora’s friends were still babies, also to visit the past when Dora was a little girl and to the future when Dora is a young teenager and Swiper is an old grumpy fox.

Will Swiper the Fox do all the good deeds needed to get his Christmas presents and can Dora prevent him from swiping any presents?

VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure” is presented in full screen format. Because it is a newer release and is a special, the programming has much more CG objects and backgrounds compared to a regular TV episode. EXTRAS:

“Holiday Gifts from Nickelodeon – Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure” comes with one coloring book, four crayons, a poster and sticker sheet.

“Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure” is a fun release for children and also parents who want to find DVD’s that can be educational for children.

Where most of the “Dora the Explorer” TV shows have been instrumental in teaching children Spanish and counting as well as teamwork, the same can be said about this Christmas special. Young children can learn the benefit of Christmas, how well-behaved children must be in Christmas and also the benefit of doing good deeds (especially to avoid being on Santa’s naughty list).

If you enjoyed this Christmas special, to support the DVD and television event, this fall Nickelodeon will launch a consumer products line including a movie tie-in book, social expressions gift bags, gift tags and wrapping paper. Additionally, preschoolers can share the holiday spirit with Dora and her adventure-loving pals with Dora’s Christmas CD, distributed by Nickelodeon and Sony Music Entertainment. This perfect stocking stuffer includes 16 holiday songs performed by the world’s most beloved Latina heroine, Dora the Explorer. The disc features classic carols with a Latin twist, including “Deck the Halls,” “Jingle Bells” and “Santa Claus Is Coming Aquí!” The CD also includes bonus songs from Nickelodeon’s TV special, “Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure.”

Overall, “Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure” is great for parents looking for a holiday DVD release for their young children. It’s a safe, educational DVD. I do wish there were more special features or another bonus episode as a Christmas bonus for the kids, but considering the low price, it’s a solid DVD and fortunately there are special features included.  This 2013 “Holiday Gifts from Nickelodeon – Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure” DVD comes with one coloring book, four crayons, a poster and sticker sheet.

It’s also important to note that there is no difference between the DVD release from 2009 and the DVD release in 2010 but this 2013 version does come the “Holiday Gifts from Nickelodeon” extras!

VIDEO & AUDIO:

The episodes featured in “Nickelodeon Favorites – Let’s Learn: Colors” are presented in full screen and in Dolby Digital stereo. Animation features vibrant colors and dialogue is clear and understandable. Picture quality is dependent on the series as “Dora the Explorer” is animation-based, “Bubble Guppies”, “Team Umizoomi” and “Wonder Pets!” tend to combine CG While “Blue’s Clues” combines both animation and a live host. Some episodes are newer, while some were created years ago. But overall, this is for the children and the picture and audio quality is good!

SPECIAL FEATURES:

“Nickelodeon Favorites – Let’s Learn: Colors” comes with no special features but comes with a “Let’s Learn: Colors” trace the dots for A-H (on inside page of DVD cover).

I have been a big supporter of Nickelodeon’s children’s shows. While my song is now grown up, having reviewed these children shows since he was young and having reviewed them as many friends and associates now have younger children, I credit these shows for aiding with my son’s development at a young age. Not only does he excel in class, I felt that these shows are what helped him receive that head start of learning ABC’s, learning his 123’s but also helping with making decisions and working as a team.

There are a lot of important lesson that are seen on each episode but most importantly, for “Let’s Learn: Colors”, your children will learn about different colors and also how mixing colors can make up another color.

My child was raised watching these Nickelodeon educational children’s shows and I do believe that it helped in his development as he is doing exceptionally well at school, especially when it comes to decision making and also an appreciation for other cultures and languages.

While many of the Nickelodeon favorites with compilations of episodes tend to be a mixed with different episodes of the top Nick Jr. shows, parents who have been wanting DVD’s specially geared to a certain subject, should be pleased with “Let’s Learn: Colors”. You get six popular Nick Jr. shows from “Team Umizoomi”, “Dora the Explorer”, “Blue’s Clues”, “Bubble Guppies” and “Wonder Pets!” and each episode’s stories are color-themed.

Overall, your young children should be entertained by this DVD release. All episodes are safe for children and parents will also be happy to know that they can learn from each of these episodes and also it will definitely help keep the children occupied as well.

“Nickelodeon Favorites – Let’s Learn: Colors” is recommended for parents and their children!

It’s time to make music! First, help Dora and Boots on four musical adventures as they journey to music class, get the Grumpy Old Troll to his Happy Dance, and more! Plus, join Blue, Steve, Periwinkle, and all their friends in the sing-along, dance-along feature, Blue’s Big Musical Movie!

Are you a parent looking for a children’s DVD that is educational but also fun-filled with music?

“Dora & Blue’s Clues Double Feature: Dora Musical School Days & Blue’s Big Musical Movie” features two DVD’s in one.  Previously released as two separated DVD’s, Nickelodeon is now including both DVD’s as one release.

Featured on “Dora the Explorer: Musical School Days” are the following four episodes:

  • La Maestra De Musica – Boot’s teacher’s bike has broken down, help her figure out how to get to school.
  • Boots to the Rescue – Dora forgot her music homework and Boots must get it to school before it starts.
  • Happy Old Troll – Dora and Boots help the Grumpy Old Troll find things that will make him happy.
  • A Letter For Swiper – Dora and Boots deliver letters while the Special Delivery Bird gets her glass fixed.

“Blue’s Big Musical Movie” is a 2000 direct-to-video film and is about Blue and friends throwing a big music show.  And Blue is looking forward to her duet with Tickety Tock.  But when Tickety loses her voice, Steve must find someone to replace her.  But when Side Table is chosen to sing, something happens and Side Table is missing.  Who will perform alongside Blue?

VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Dora & Blue’s Clues Double Feature: Dora Musical School Days & Blue’s Big Musical Movie” does feature older episodes from 2002-2004 for “Dora the Explorer”, so it’s not the latest episodes that are more CG generated and more colorful and vibrant, but for children, the animation and picture quality is very good.

As for “Blue’s Big Musical Movie”, it’s important to remember that the film is 13-years-old.  Originally released in 2000, picture quality is good but this is the older film featuring Steve.

Audio is presented in Dolby Digital and dialogue and music is crystal clear.

“Dora the Explorer: Dora Musical School Days” is presented in English, French and Spanish stereo with closed captions.  “Blue’s Big Musical Movie” is presented in Dolby Digital Surround with subtitles in English SDH.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

“Dora & Blue’s Clues Double Feature: Dora Musical School Days & Blue’s Big Musical Movie” comes with the following special features:

Dora Musical School Days:

  • Wonder Pets! Sneak Peek – (2:38) A short sneak peak for “Wonder Pets!”.

Blue’s Big Musical Movie:

  •  “I Can Be Anything That I Want to Be” Music Video
  • “There It Is” Music Video
  • Backstage at Blue’s Clues – (15:54) A behind-the-scenes at the making of “Blue’s Clues” and the history of the series.
  • Who Am I? Game
  • Blue’s Clues DVD-Rom Games

I know for my family and I would assume for many other families, “Dora the Explorer” and “Blue’s Clues” has helped a lot of children for well over a decade.  For “Dora the Explorer”, may it be to introduce them to Spanish or increasing their decision making skills, the series continues to be popular in America and in other countries.  And with “Blue’s Clues”, helping children with their decision making and getting them involved.

With the release of “Dora & Blue’s Clues Double Feature: Dora Musical School Days & Blue’s Big Musical Movie”, you get two classic DVD’s in one release.  “Dora the Explorer: Musical School Days” comes with four episodes and “Blue’s Big Musical Movie” comes with an 80-minute film.

For the most part, while older, children won’t know the difference and for what both series are instrumental in providing is education and entertainment for children, no matter how old the series is.  Both look good on DVD and the entertainment still holds up over a decade later.

My young son literally grew up in his young toddler years watching “Dora the Explorer” and “Blue’s Clues” and through both series, it was very helpful in helping him develop skills on decision making but also learning another key areas for your child’s development. And I’m a true believer that these educational children’s shows is one of the reasons why he is doing so well in school.

And for the most part, both shows are not only popular but they are fun and safe for children.

Overall, if you are a parent looking for a great deal, you can’t go wrong with “Dora & Blue’s Clues Double Feature: Dora Musical School Days & Blue’s Big Musical Movie”.  Educational, fun and you get two DVD releases in one package.

  • Egg Hunt – Dora and Boots need pre-schoolers help to find all the eggs including the Big Yellow Egg.
  • Dora, La Musico – The townspeople are having a musical parade and Senor Shush locks all their instruments in the Music Box, can Dora and Boots save the day?
  • El Dia De Las Madres – It’s Mother’s Day! Help Dora gather ingredients for Mami’s cake and help Boots, Benny, Tico and Isa to prepare their Mother’s Day gifts.
  • Pablo’s Flute – Pablo had a magic flute but lost it.  Can Dora and Boots find it?

VIDEO & AUDIO:

“Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Easter Adventure” may be heading to a new direction animated wise as the animation is much more cleaner. The backgrounds are well-detailed and CG generated. Even Dora, Boots and friends seem to have more shading for their colors and more frame animations. Even the map is now entirely in CG. The special is presented in full screen but is vibrant with the bright colors. This is probably the most detailed “Dora the Explorer” episode I have seen thus far.

The bonus episodes also feature a more CG art backgrounds but you can tell that with “Dora’s Easter Adventure”, the production for the Easter episode is more detailed and vibrant.

Audio is presented in Dolby Digital and dialogue and music is crystal clear.

“Dora the Explorer: Egg Hunt” features episodes from 2004, so picture quality is not as good as vibrant “Dora’s Easter Adventure”.  There is a bit of compression but children will more than likely not care about the picture quality.  Audio is clear and understandable.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

“Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Easter Adventure” comes with the following special features:

  • Dora’s Easter Adventure: Interactive Play Mode – Help Dora Explore while watching “Dora’s Easter Adventure”, your child can use a remote and clicking a button when you see an Easter Egg.
  • Karaoke Music Videos – Karaoke music videos for “Busca Los Cascarones”, “Row Row Row”, “On Our Way to Troll Land”, “The Grump Old Troll is Getting Married” and “We Did It!”.

EXTRAS:

“Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Easter Collection” comes with a slipover case and a “Dora the Explorer” Easter sticker sheet.

I know for my family and I would assume for many other families, “Dora the Explorer” has helped a lot of children. May it be to introduce them to Spanish or increasing their decision making skills, the series continues to be popular in America and in other countries.

And with the release of the “Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Easter Collection” set featuring “Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Easter Adventure”, the series takes a bold step forward in terms of look and quality. I am not exactly sure if this is how “Dora the Explorer” will look from here on in but if so, parents will happy to know that the series features better animation and backgrounds that are detailed and colors that are much more vibrant. I was pretty impressed with how things look and when you watch this Easter episode, compared to the two bonus episodes, you will notice a bump up in animation and art backgrounds.

And as a bonus, you also get the older “Dora the Explorer: Egg Hunt” DVD featuring episodes that deal with an Egg Hunt, La Musico Parade and Mother’s Day and more!

As for special features, you get an interactive game and also karaoke music videos, so you can sing along with Dora and Boots.

Overall, “Dora the Explorer: Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Easter Collection” is great DVD set for parents or relatives looking for safe, educational episodes for children. Parents who have other kids that grew up in the series, will note the more modern and updated look of “Dora the Explorer: Easter Adventure” in the latest Easter episode featured on this DVD, especially quality differences compared to the older “Dora the Explorer: Egg Hunt”.

“Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Easter Collection” is recommended for parents and their young children!
