ABC DAYTIME’S “ONE LIFE TO LIVE” RELEASES “THE SOUND OF A KISS” ON iTUNES FEBRUARY 8

“With the release of ‘The Sound of a Kiss,’ we continue to explore opportunities to incorporate music into ‘One Life to Live,’ which has always been very important to us,” said Frank Valentini, executive producer. “The audience has a passionate investment in our characters and this CD affords the opportunity to create a deeper connection between the fans and the show.”
“It’s been great getting everyone back into the recording studio for this project,” said Paul Glass, supervising music director. “There are a couple of tracks that the fans have been asking for and that we have been wanting to get out there: the song Kelley Missal sang at Todd and Tea’s wedding and Kassie DePaiva’s song from New Year’s Eve. We have some great new tracks from Kristen Alderson, David Gregory and Brittany Underwood, as well as the song that Kassie sings on the show this Valentine’s Day. Previous “OLTL” albums released on iTunes include “Prom Night: The Musical” in 2007 and the original music from “Starr X’d Lovers: The Musical” in 2010. The show successfully sells music for both music guests and original music incorporated, making “OLTL” a popular destination for such music super stars as Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Lifehouse, All-American Rejects, Lionel Richie with Jeremih, Frankie Negron, The Pussycat Dolls, Rachael Yamagata, Timbaland with Keri Hilson and One Republic, Nelly Furtado, Jeannie Ortega, Simply Red, Chris Botti and Erykah Badu. In one afternoon on ABC, a music act will gain broader reach than on any radio station in the country. Labels have realized that ABC Daytime provides an efficient way to reach a highly engaged audience of Women 18-49. For the artists, an appearance on ABC Daytime affords exposure to a new audience, or it can reinforce their music to their existing audience.
Emmy Award-winning “One Life to Live,” created by Agnes Nixon, was launched July 15, 1968. Frank Valentini executive-produces. Ron Carlivati is the headwriter. Paul Glass is the supervising music director. The popular drama consistently ranks among the top five in the key demographic of Women 18-49. “One Life to Live” airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
ABC DAYTIME AND TV LAND JOIN FORCES TO CREATE AN UNPRECEDENTED CROSS-OVER EVENT
January 6, 2011 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
ABC’s Susan Lucci, Michael E. Knight and Darnell Williams Guest Star on “Hot in Cleveland”
And TV Land’s Wendie Malick Guest Stars on “All My Children,” Continuing the Storyline
Established in “Hot in Cleveland’s” First Season
ABC Daytime and TV Land have joined forces to create an unprecedented network event where characters from “All My Children” and “Hot in Cleveland” cross over to continue a storyline established on last season’s “Hot in Cleveland.” The story revolves around Wendie Malick’s character, Victoria Chase, and her industry-nemesis, Susan Lucci. The two-part “Hot in Cleveland” episodes will air on TV Land on February 16 and 23 at 10:00 p.m., ET/PT, and the “All My Children” episode will air on ABC at 1:00 p.m., ET/12:00 p.m., PT on February 24.
“All My Children’s” Emmy Award(r) winners Susan Lucci, Michael E. Knight and Darnell Williams will appear as themselves on “Hot in Cleveland,” and Golden Globe(r) winner Wendie Malick, as her “Hot in Cleveland” character Victoria Chase, will appear on “All My Children” as Gertie, a housekeeper who ends up moonlighting as a bartender at Confusion after Erica Kane fires her.
“We are thrilled Victoria Chase will join the cast of ‘All My Children’ – there are very few actresses who could pull off a dual role performance as BOTH a maid and bartender. We hope she is up to the challenge,” teased Julie Carruthers, executive producer, “All My Children.” Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group, joked: “There is only room for one Erica Kane in Pine Valley, and Victoria Chase will unfortunately find that out the hard way.” Frons went on to say, “This is a unique opportunity to raise awareness of both shows with similar demos, and we expect each other’s viewers to follow from one show to the next.”
“We’re so happy that Victoria Chase will finally get to show ‘All My Children’ fans why she is a soap superstar,” responds Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “We’re so excited to partner with ‘All My Children’ to bring to life this classic TV form when television worlds collide.”
“Hot in Cleveland” revolves around three fabulous best friends from Los Angeles – novelist Melanie Moretti (Valerie Bertinelli), eye-brow archer to the stars Joy Scroggs (Jane Leeves) and former soap star Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick) – who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an unexpected landing. When the friends discover that life is better for them since they are hot in Cleveland, they decide to stay. Starting over together, they rent a house that happens to come with a very opinionated caretaker (Betty White).
Filmed in front of a live studio audience, “Hot in Cleveland” is executive-produced by Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions, and is helmed by Emmy Award-winning Suzanne Martin (“Frasier,” “Ellen”) serving as executive producer, show runner and writer. Lynda Obst also serves as executive producer.
Season One of “Hot in Cleveland” will be available on DVD on January 11, just in time to relive all ten hilarious episodes before the second season kicks off. The two-disc set is loaded with uproarious bonus material, including the original full-length pilot, bloopers, wardrobe featurette, We Love Our Age featurette, a set tour, Victoria’s (Malick) full-length Japanese Lady Pants commercial and more.
Entertainment Weekly and TV Land have named Susan Lucci one of the Top 50 Television Icon’s of all time for her portrayal of the legendary Erica Kane, the sexy, sassy, beautiful “woman you love to hate!” In May 1999, all of America stood and cheered when she won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and in 2005 she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Three-time Emmy Award winner Michael E. Knight created the role of Tad Martin on “All My Children” in 1983, when he was better known as “Tad the Cad.” Today Tad is less of a cad, but ever more a fan favorite and respected actor. Emmy Award winner Darnell Williams made a triumphant return to the show in January 2008, after a 20-year absence, to reprise the fan-favorite role of the presumed deceased Jessie Hubbard.
“All My Children” celebrated its 40th anniversary on January 5th, 2010. The program has successfully maintained its popularity and continues to be one of daytime’s most compelling dramas. “All My Children” took home the 1998 Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, the third time the show received this top honor, having also garnered the award in 1994 and 1992. In 2004 the show also received its third consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Writing, its third Writers Guild Award and its fourth GLAAD Media Award in March 2007.
Created by Agnes Nixon, “All My Children” premiered on the ABC Television Network on January 5, 1970, as a half-hour show; seven years later it expanded to an hour. Julie Hanan Carruthers is executive producer with David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski as co-head writers. “All My Children” is produced in Los Angeles and airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (1:00-2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” TO BUILD HOME FOR AUGUSTA, GEORGIA FAMILY WHO FACE ADVERSITY WITH STRENGTH, GRACE AND — ABOVE ALL — A SMILE!
he energetic and enthusiastic Earnie Graham from Augusta, Georgia is that rare person who seems to know how to do it all. The loving but strict single mom of two works full time, attends college and still finds time to volunteer and chaperone for the Girl Scouts of the USA. Despite living in a small, deteriorating house, Earnie and her family approach life with strength, grace and — above all – a smile. On December 2, the much loved and admired Graham family learned that the “EM: HE” team will build them a safe, secure home in just seven days.
Earnie has a zest for life and recognizes the fact that one doesn’t need money or material possessions to spread good cheer. She was so impressed with what the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia did for her daughter, Tiffany (now 22 years old), she decided to become more involved. She started working there as a receptionist and has become their much beloved coordinator, in charge of overseeing the cookie and nut sales for her chapter and managing the Girl Scout store. Aside from this full time job, she is in college working on her B.S. Degree, and also makes time to volunteer at the Camp Tanglewood Girl Scout Camp.
Today daughter Tiffany is in the police academy with a dream of being in the FBI. Her 10-year-old brother, Timothy, has had to sleep on the couch in the living room ever since he grew out of his crib. Timothy’s grandfather, Erbest Graham, tried to build the extra room for him, but all work on the room ceased when Erbest was diagnosed with cancer.
The Grahams will take a vacation to the Disneyland Resort while “EM:HE” design team leader Ty Pennington and designers Paige Hemmis, Michael Moloney and Ed Sanders, local builder Beazly Homes and community volunteers build them a real home on a stable foundation.
The location address is: 161 McCain Way, Augusta, GA 30906
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is produced by Endemol USA, of Endemol Holding, and executive-produced by Brady Connell & George Verschoor. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America.
PRODUCERS OF “THE VIEW” SHINE A SPOTLIGHT ON HIDDEN CREW TALENTS
November 12, 2010 by J!-ENT · 4 Comments
Contest and Voting Kick Off Nationally On-Air and
Online at ABC.Com, Live, Monday, November 15
A unique turn of events finds producers of ABC’s “The View” shining a spotlight on select members of their crew for a special backstage “hidden talent” competition – from Elvis impersonator to piano player – kicking off live, MONDAY, NOV. 15. Each of the five participants will be showcased in a :45 submission clip, shown one per day on-air, Monday, Nov. 15 – Friday, Nov. 19, with viewing and voting opportunity on the show’s official website, abc.com/theview. Online voting ends Sunday, Nov. 21 and the grand-prize winner will be announced live, Monday, Nov. 22. The winner will then perform his/her winning material on “The View,” Friday, Nov. 26.
The list of contestants is as follows:
Darcy Bowman, originally from Charlotte, NC, is a promo editor for “The View.” Darcy’s vast experience in television has lent itself to developing odd quirks, for example crying like an infant and cursing with her mouth closed. These techniques were honed from working closely with her producer, Bernadette Piccolomini, who developed the same quirks. Darcy also enjoys yoga, whistling and knitting sweaters, but especially knitting body parts.
Brian Connolly, from Long Island, NY, currently serves as head carpenter at “The View.” He has been with the show since its debut on ABC. For the past 25 years he has been part of a 10-piece band who currently perform with “The Rhythm Kings.” This married father of three entertains audiences throughout the New York-Metropolitan area as a singing piano player in piano bars, nightclubs, weddings and special events. Additionally, Brian also writes, arranges and performs some of his own original material.
Tom Diaco is a 32-year-old Italian American who is a life-long resident of Scarsdale, NY. Besides engineering on “The View,” he has his own production company and is an avid photographer and cinematographer. Each day on “The View” he works with various camera systems such as the Steady Cam or Jib. A fascination with Elvis started when he was 12-years-old, and he has performed at the 20th anniversary concert at Graceland, at weddings and in music videos. Like his idol, Elvis, Tom strives always to be the “best of the best.”
Michael Glazer hails from Oldbridge, NJ and currently resides in Bedminster. He has been an audio engineer/producer making records, doing live sound and broadcast television for many years. Michael has had the opportunity to sit across the console (and behind the console) with/for many talented artists, writers and producers. He has also worked in news television at ABC, CNN and MSNBC. Michael hails from a musical family. His grandfather was in Vaudeville and his grandmother taught voice and piano in her home. His music projects have included the Grungy Bunnies (his college band), Swill, OverC’s (his very brief stint on guitar opening for Guster in Boston) and as a singer/songwriter. In addition he was nominated for a few Asbury Park Music awards.
Eric Kendra is from Great Meadows, NJ and has a wonderful wife of 19 years and a 14-year-old son. Eric has won two Daytime Emmy Awards while working on “The View,” where he has been since the show debuted 14 years ago. In addition to composing piano music, he also enjoys brewing beer when he is not running camera.
Bernadette Piccolomini hails from Menominee, MI and currently resides in NYC. She is the promo producer for “The View.” Bernadette learned to cry like an infant and curse with her mouth closed from her editor, Darcy Bowman. During down time in the edit room they developed these irksome techniques to amuse themselves. Bernadette also mimics the musical sounds of a trumpet, as well as expertly mocking people with irritating British accents.
“The View” features Daytime Emmy Award-winning hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. It’s the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations. “The View,” broadcast in HDTV and produced in 2-channel stereo sound, is now available to watch online daily at 4:00 p.m., ET/1:00 p.m., PT on the ABC Digital Full Episode Player at ABC.com. “The View” is produced by ABC Daytime and Ms. Walters’ Barwall Productions, with Ms. Walters serving as executive producer along with Bill Geddie, who also serves as executive producer for “The Barbara Walters Specials.” “The View” is directed by Mark Gentile.

IT’S A DOG-GONE SPECTACULAR EPISODE OF “EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” WHEN THE TEAM HEADS TO POCATELLO, IDAHO AND CELEBRATES A FAMILY AND THE DOG WHO SAVED THEM FROM THEIR BURNING HOUSE
October 19, 2010 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Pop Star Kylie Minogue Provides Support for Single Mom, a Fellow Breast Cancer Survivor
“Marshall-Spreier Family” — When the 2,000 square foot home of a single mother of nine caught fire in Pocatello, Idaho, breast cancer survivor Jane Marshall and her children were awakened by Betsy, the family dog. Thanks to Betsy, everyone was able to get out safely. To celebrate the Marshall-Spreier family’s enduring human spirit in the face of difficulty, Ty and the “EM:HE” design team not only built them a new house in just seven days, but also found ways for some of Betsy’s dog brethren to get involved in the transformation of this music-loving family’s home. While designer Paul DiMeo played piano with a full symphony orchestra, team leader Ty Pennington orchestrated ten dogs to bring down the family’s devastated house, including Molly, a dog who actually operated an excavator! This episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” airs SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 7 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
When pop star Kylie Minogue learned that she could also be a part in making the family’s luck change, she was happy to do her part and performed a concert at the family’s new home. Kylie had surgery five years ago for early-stage breast cancer and, as with Jane, the surgery was declared a success.
The Marshall-Spreiers and Betsy went on vacation to Key West, Florida, where Betsy went swimming for the first time and got some dog-gone right pampering of her own. Meanwhile, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team leader Ty Pennington, designers Jillian Harris, Paul DiMeo and Ed Sanders, local builder Rockwell Development and community volunteers rebuilt the structure.
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is produced by Endemol USA, of Endemol Holding, and executive-produced by Brady Connell & George Verschoor. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA TO APPEAR ON “THE VIEW,” JULY 29, THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY A SITTING U.S. PRESIDENT HAS VISITED A DAYTIME TALK SHOW
July 26, 2010 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Barbara Walters Makes Exclusive In-Studio Appearance in Honor of This Rare Occasion
Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, executive producers of the ABC’s Emmy® Award-winning talk show, “The View,” announced today that President Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, will be the featured guest, THURSDAY, JULY 29 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET), marking the first time in history a sitting United States President has visited a daytime talk show. President Obama’s unprecedented appearance is part of the show’s continuing “Red, White & View” campaign, which is committed to political guests and discussions.
Barbara Walters, creator/executive producer and co-host of “The View” will, in honor of this rare occasion, make one exclusive in-studio appearance to mark this historic hour for “The View.”
Ms. Walters underwent heart valve replacement surgery in May. Earlier this month she chatted about her recovery with pals Whoopi, Joy, Elisabeth and Sherri live via Skype®. It was her first nationally televised appearance since undergoing surgery.
“We are so pleased and honored that President Obama will be a guest on ‘The View.’ The President last appeared on the program in March 2008 while he was still a Senator, and First Lady Michelle Obama was a featured guest co-host in June 2008. This shows that both the President and First Lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news. I’m also going to appear on ‘The View’ Thursday for the first time since my open heart surgery in May. I will return full-time in September,” said Ms. Walters.
President Obama’s interview, scheduled to tape on Wednesday, July 28, will touch on topics including his administrations accomplishments, jobs, the economy, the Gulf oil spill and family life inside the White House.
President Obama’s last appearance on “The View” was in March 2008. He was also a featured guest on November 2004, when promoting his book, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.
“Red, White & View”
In 2008-09, the five spirited hosts of ABC’s popular talk and entertainment show, “The View,” left an indelible mark on the political landscape. Whether discussing the day’s political headlines, from the war in Iraq to universal healthcare and teen pregnancy, the latest musings from our nation’s capitol or political infidelities, the outspoken hosts can always be relied on for their unique opinions, quick wit and sparking colorful water cooler conversations that can only be seen, live, exclusively on “The View” (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET) on the ABC Television Network. In September 2008, the show launched a successful “Red, White & View” campaign highlighting interviews and informational segments that helped promote civic responsibility during the election season. The “Red, White & View” campaign was another example of how “The View” established itself as an important player in the political process.
