THE REVIEW:

In 2012-2013, LEGO released their latest Space theme titled “LEGO GALAXY SQUAD”.

With 2011 featuring aliens and UFO’s, this time featuring humans and robots working together to fight against alien insects in the galaxy.

And the set I’m going to review is the LEGO GALAXY SQUAD – Space Swarmer (70700) set which was released in 2012 and features Blue Team Galaxy Squad robot taking on an Alien Buggoid and its Space Swarmer.

First, let’s take a look at the minifigures!

The Blue Team Galaxy Squad Robot has a large blaster, jet pack with two space guns and an antenna.  While the minifigure does have printing on both sides, of course, the jet pack will cover it up and obscure it.  The helmet is the head and for the most part, it’s a unique looking minifigure.  I like the detail on the outfit but also how these usual parts were made into a wonderful weapon to take on the Space Swarmer!

As for the Alien Buggoid, these are the pilots and carry a blaster.  Printing are on both sides of the torso, while the head is nicely sculpted.

The Space Swarmer is a very cool vehicle.  From its arachnid legs, its wings and cockpit, spiked mouth in the front, its no doubt a menacing vehicle.

I love the creativity that went into making this vehicle and its color scheme.

There are a few stickers to put on, such as the front portion and the instrument panel but it’s definitely stickers that add to the look of the Space Swarmer!

Overall,  I was quite pleased with the LEGO GALAXY SQUAD – Space Swarmer!

During the holidays, this set was priced at under $8, so it was a steal!  You get two minifigures and one of the coolest vehicles I have seen under the $11.99 pricepoint!

And I have no doubt in my mind that I will be purchasing more LEGO GALAXY SQUAD as I love the creativity behind them but also the sci-fi aspect to the entire set.

Definitely recommended!
