Moderator So, you’re gone from being haunted by your friend Alison on Pretty Little Liars, and now you’re going to be the ghost in Christmas Cupid.  Did you have fun with that?

A. Benson Oh my gosh, Christmas Cupid was a blast.  My character, Caitlin, she’s a little similar to Hanna because she’s like kind of a wild child, but she was so much fun because she’s just this famous movie star, she does whatever she wants whenever she wants.  She doesn’t take no for an answer and she just lives in her own world and she thinks that she can tell anybody what to do and there will be no consequences.

But she goes out to a club and she chokes on an olive from a martini and dies and comes back as a ghost.  And she’s just so free spirited, so when she comes back to haunt Sloane, it’s just this huge wild adventure and she takes her through her past, present, and future ex-boyfriends and Caitlin flirts with every single one of them and she was so much fun.

It’s my first time to actually be in a comedy, like a real comedy, so I was a little nervous, so hopefully it turns out well.  I think it did and it was just so fun to play a comedic character.

Moderator So, is this your first Christmas movie under your belt as an actor?

A. Benson This is my first Christmas movie, yes.

Moderator What Christmas movie is something that means a lot to you, that you have to see every year, that’s just sort of like your Rosetta Stone of Christmas movies?

A. Benson It’s really funny, me and my dad, it’s been like a thing, since it came out, well me and my dad and my whole family, we always watch The Grinch with Jim Carrey.  It’s just such a cute movie and they usually always play it on ABC Family in the 25 Days of Christmas, so we’re watching every Christmas movie that comes on there, but The Grinch is definitely one that we never miss together.  It’s just such an awesome movie; it’s one of my favorite Christmas movies.

Moderator Since you’re going to the Christmas movie, I was wondering what you’re best Christmas memory is?

A. Benson My best Christmas memory; I have quite a few.  But one thing is we go to my Grandma’s every Christmas morning and it’s just my dad’s side of the family and my sister and my mom.  We have done this since I was born and we have the same breakfast every single time and then we go on this huge scavenger hunt around my Grandma’s house; she lives up in the hills, so we go everywhere and it leads us to all of our presents and it’s so much fun.

That’s something I’m going to be doing forever and it’s just a really great experience every time and just to spend that time with my family, it’s really nice.  But, yes, we always go to my Grandma’s and have amazing food and go on this really long scavenger hunt to find our presents and it’s so fun.

Moderator That’s awesome.  So, are you going to do that this year then?

A. Benson Yes.  My Grandma is really creative and she gets like a storyboard and usually we always take a trip every year so she writes on the storyboard and we have to find clues and once we’re done she tells us where we’re going.  So, I’m always looking forward to that and then they always get us really awesome presents.

And then recently I’ve been getting them just really cool things and it’s a lot of fun.  I love going to my Grandma’s house and I still have a Great-Grandma, so I always get to hang out with her there and it’s just a blast.

Moderator Awesome.  And, lastly, what is the best Christmas present you’ve ever gotten?

A. Benson Oh, man, the best Christmas present I’ve ever gotten?  We go to Cancun a lot.  My grandparents give that to us as a Christmas present because we have a timeshare there and that’s usually the best because, again, I work so much and I can’t see my family as often as I would love to, so we go on these trips and we just all get to be together for a week and I think that’s probably the best.

Because I always buy toys and X-Box and clothes and all that and that’s great, but I think family is really important so definitely trips that we go on together and that usually happens every Christmas so I’m waiting to see where we’re going to go this year.

Moderator Do you have any favorite memories while shooting Christmas Cupid?

A. Benson Christmas Cupid was so much fun.  I think just overall the entire cast and the crew.  I’m very close with the people on Pretty Little Liars and I didn’t think I could become that close with another project and we only filmed for four weeks or five weeks and me and Christiana have become like best friends and it’s amazing.  And Chad was amazing to work with and we became really close and just the whole crew, we had such a great time and it was just a really fun environment.  We’d all go out afterwards together and go to dinner or just relax at a lounge or whatever, but it was really fun.  I’m really glad that the cast and the crew were just so enjoyable to work with.

Moderator That’s great.  I’m sure it makes work a lot easier when you get along so well with everyone else.

A. Benson I know.  Because I was a little nervous because always going on to a new project you don’t know who you’re going to work with or how anyone is going to be and everybody just kind of had the same personalities and we all just got along really well and we were constantly laughing.  There was never a dull moment on set.  It was always just really fun.  So, it was nice.

Moderator We all know that Christmas Cupid is an updated A Christmas Carol.  So, I was wondering if you enjoy that Charles Dickens novel or if you have a different favorite piece of classical literature?

A. Benson No, definitely, I love A Christmas Carol.  It was such a good story and Charles Dickens is amazing and I watched the movie last year, A Christmas Carol, and to be doing another version of that was really awesome and to be a part of the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC Family couldn’t get any better because I watched that every year with my family and I know a lot of other families do, too and it’s just like a good time to spend with them and they just play the best Christmas movies and to be part of that is really exciting.

Moderator I know you’re an active participant on Twitter, so I was wondering how important are social networking sites like Twitter to promotion of films like Christmas Cupid and shows like Pretty Little Liars that’s new?

A. Benson At first I was really against Twitter, like I never wanted to get it and I finally caved and I got it and I just think it’s a really fun way to interact with your fans and it’s a great way to promote things that you have coming up, whether it’s a new project or if someone has a clothing line or just something that hasn’t really been out in the public. I’ve been promoting Christmas Cupid a lot on there and all the fans are extremely excited to see it and everybody that watches Pretty Little Liars is following me and so then they all want to watch Christmas Cupid.

So, it’s just a really great way to get free promotion and I think it’s great.  I love Twitter.

Moderator Why do you think people want to take the time to tune-in to watch Christmas Cupid?

A. Benson It’s just a great twist on A Christmas Carol and it’s just so fun.  It’s a really good Christmas movie.  It’s just lighthearted and it’s full of laughs and sarcasm.  It’s a little different than regular movies because it’s a big comedy and my character especially, Caitlin, she’s just way out there, she’s just a wild child actress and when she comes back as a ghost she’s still acts like she’s the same thing.  She kind of has the biggest ego in the world and she has everybody else do chores for her and she’s just so sarcastic and so outspoken and rude.  It was so much fun to play.

Moderator I was wondering what fans of Pretty Little Liars will love about Christmas Cupid?

A. Benson Well, first off, Chad Michael Murray is in it and I’m sure every girl has a crush on him or did have a crush on him because he’s just so cute.  And also I just think it’s going to be fun for them to see me as a different character and it’s just a great comedy and Christina and I have really great chemistry together and we kind of bump heads in the movie the entire time and it’s just a blast.

It’s just a really fun, cute movie and I think they’re going to love it.

Moderator I was wondering if you make a point to watch yourself when you’re on TV or if you kind of shy away from it?

A. Benson I definitely shy away from it.  I mean I have to watch it just because I like to see how I’m doing and I’m my worst critic because I look at everything and I think oh, that’s not right, that’s not right; so, I usually watch things by myself.  I don’t like watching things with other people, so when the movie comes out my mom is having people over and I will not attend because I don’t like things like that.

I get really shy, so I have to watch it by myself so I can just watch the movie and not be distracted because I just get really uncomfortable.  So, I’ll be watching it by myself.
