“FIGHT WITH STYLE” SKIN CANCER PREVENTION INITIATIVE LAUNCHES THE STYLE NETWORK’S SIGNATURE BEAUTY BUS TOUR

“FIGHT WITH STYLE” SKIN CANCER PREVENTION INITIATIVE HITS THE ROAD
WITH THE STYLE NETWORK’S SIGNATURE BEAUTY BUS TOUR

10-City Tour in Collaboration with Melanoma Research Alliance and Affiliate Partners

Style Bus Visitors to Learn Life-Saving Tips while Receiving Complimentary Mini-Makeovers

Los Angeles, CA, August 17, 2011 – The Style Network launches the next phase of its “Fight with Style” campaign to promote skin cancer prevention with the network’s signature Beauty Bus tour, which takes to the road once again at the end of August. In an effort to stand up against a disease that affects one in five Americans, the goal of the 10-city national tour is to encourage early detection and life-saving preventative measures. Partnering with Melanoma Research Alliance, Style’s Beauty Bus tour will be sponsored in each market by a local affiliate.

“We are excited to expand the Style Beauty Bus tour this year, helping to spread the message across the country about this deadly, yet preventable, disease,” said Melissa Stone Mangham, VP, Marketing & Advertising, The Style Network. “Melanoma is the number one new cancer diagnosed among young women. This is very disconcerting considering there are so many healthier, safer options available for people who want that sun-kissed look. With that in mind, we designed the ‘Fight with Style’ initiative to educate women – in a fun, contemporary setting – on how they can be empowered to take control of their health and improve the quality of their lives.”

Beginning August 27 in Chicago, the fun, fashionable 34-foot sleek bus will travel the country for two months, providing helpful and life-changing information about skin cancers, which are among the most common and preventable forms of cancer. The deadliest of these is Melanoma with an incidence rate that is drastically rising, especially in young women. The Style Beauty Bus tour will work to educate people about ways to reduce their risk while helping to generate resources from research toward a cure. In addition, free mini-makeovers will be available to the public along with an opportunity to have their photo taken by a Reveal Imager, which is designed to show sun damage, brown spots and red areas. Trained estheticians then will review the Reveal Imager report and provide suggestions for skin care. Onboard the fully-customized Beauty Bus, visitors may receive complimentary services from the special makeup and nail stations, including makeup application and mini-manicures.

Style’s year-round “Fight with Style” campaign kicked off in May, during Skin Cancer Awareness Month, with the release of its award-winning “Naked” public service announcement, featuring Tatyana Ali, Tempestt Bledsoe, Brandy, Cacee Cobb, Danielle Fishel, Ashlan Gorse, Meghan McCain and Jenn Proske, who discussed how going outside sans sunscreen is like going out naked in public. The network also issued the startling results of a nationwide poll of 1,000 women, revealing their shocking limited knowledge of skin cancer. The in-depth study examined women’s reactions to the glaring statistics, their lifestyle choices and their understanding of the disease.

The following is a list of cities and dates where the Style Beauty Bus tour will stop. Additional markets will be announced at a later date.
