CULVER CITY, CALIF. (June 28, 2012) – DARLING COMPANION, the witty comedy starring Academy Award® winners Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline, debuts on Blu-rayTM
and DVD August 28th from Sony Pictures Classics and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The heartwarming film from four-time Academy Award nominee writer/director Lawrence Kasdan,[1] brings together an all-star ensemble, which, in addition to Keaton (Annie Hall (1978) – Best Actress in a Leading Role) and Kline (A Fish Called Wanda (1989) – Best Actor in a Supporting Role) includes two-time Academy Awardwinner Dianne Wiest (Bullets Over Broadway (1995) – Best Actress in a Supporting Role; Hannah and Her Sisters (1987) – Best Actress in a Supporting Role), Academy Award nominees Richard Jenkins (The Visitor (2009) – Best Actor in a Leading Role), Sam Shepard (The Right Stuff (1984) – Best Actor in a Supporting Role), Elizabeth Moss (TV’s “Mad Men”), Mark Duplass (TV’s “The League”) and Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons).
DARLING COMPANION Blu-rayTM and DVD special features include three behind-the-scenes featurettes, “On the Red Carpet: New York Premiere,” providing a look from the red carpet, as well as commentary with Lawrence Kasdan, Meg Kasdan and Kevin Kline.
The film was written by Lawrence Kasdan and Academy Award nominee Meg Kasdan (Grand Canyon (1992) – Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen); both served as executive producers with John J. Kelly (Warrior) and Christine Kunewa Walker (Thin Ice). Anthony Bregman (Our Idiot Brother) and Elizabeth Redleaf (Thin Ice) produced.
Synopsis: A long-married couple reunites with their children for their daughter’s wedding in the mountains. When the husband loses the family dog, the wife enlists the help of the remaining guests and chaos ensues, as each member of the search party is affected by the adventure in unexpected ways.
