TONIGHT: Bridezillas 2 hour special and AWC

The wedding was so much fun!  It was my first time as a bridesmaid and it was awesome and the bride wasn’t a bridezilla at all.  But to make up for it, tonight is a two-hour Bridezillas extravaganza! First, one-of-a-kind Bridezilla Molly has an epic meltdown when the custom limo she ordered isn’t ready three days before the wedding. Molly also dissolves into tears over wet weather, and finally liberates her beloved wedding dress from the seamstress.

Meanwhile, Tasanna has six dresses, and two personalities! Tasanna’s alter ego, Bambi, is the one to watch out for when things don’t go Tasanna’s way. When the tux shop messes up the groom’s order, Bambi has to be held back! Tasanna shows up two hours late to the wedding, but its Bambi who turns up at the reception!

Finally, Bridezilla Angel may be engaged to an accountant, but this doesn’t stop her from doubling her wedding budget. Angel can’t be trusted with the credit cards or her alcohol intake, when she makes a complete fool of herself on the night of the rehearsal. On the wedding day Angel and her groom get into a huge fight, and then it actually hails during the outdoor ceremony. But the most shocking moment of the season comes at the very end when Angel accuses her husband of infidelity–at their wedding reception!

And if you’re all emotional from all that drama, kick back with some cake and eat your feelings with Amazing Wedding Cakes.  Here’s what’s happening:

A couple seeks out Christopher Garren’s Cakes to create a non-traditional wedding cake. In fact, they say they don’t want “their mother’s wedding cake.” The couple specifically wants to incorporate Lotus flowers (because they reconnected at LA’s Lotus Festival after first meeting in New York City), henna designs, and lots of color. Chris is overjoyed because he gets to use the airbrush, create appliqués and detailed mosaics, and sculpt the layers into hourglass shapes. Chris gets the whole team involved in crafting the elaborate decorations, with fingers crossed that when all the parts come together, it will be a glorious yet cohesive cake design.

Reva at Merci Beaucoup Cakes designs a wedding cake with dramatic draping effects in fondant, as a nod to the bride’s interest in acting. There is also the tedious project of cutting out dozens of tiny tassels to trim the “fabric” draping. Thank goodness Marc has a background in the fashion industry, because he’s definitely going to have to help with this one…

At Cake Alchemy, Lauri meets with a client who only has one request for her wedding cake, and that’s to incorporate the groom’s last name, Swan, into the design. Sounds relatively simple, except Lauri always has to raise the bar: why make just one cake when you can make EIGHTY little ones instead? The Cake Alchemy team swings into assembly-line mode to crank out dozens of individual wedding cakes, each with a poured sugar swan on top.
