“THE REAL HOUSEWIVES” OF NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK CITY AND ATLANTA GIVE “REAL” HOUSEWIVES THE ULTIMATE MAKEOVERS ON “MAURY”

Danielle, Ramona and NeNe Join Forces To Help ‘Real’ Housewives From Coast-To-Coast

“MAURY”- THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 IN NATIONAL SYNDICATION

STAMFORD, CT — September 22, 2010– On Thursday, September 23, 2010, host Maury Povich brings members of the “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” “The Real Housewives of New York City” and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” on MAURY for a housewives makeover extravaganza.

Real Housewife Danielle Staub from “New Jersey”, Ramona Singer from “New York City” and Nene Leakes from “Atlanta” help transform the disheveled ‘real’ housewives into moms that are dressed to impress.

To put the “Real Housewives” skills to the test, Maury sends them with ‘real’ ’housewives to New York City for a head-to-toe makeover. A MAURY camera crew follows the housewives as they have their hair styled, dressed in more appropriate clothing and receive makeup tips from top stylists.

Akira Earl from Apple Valley, CA had trouble covering up prior to coming on MAURY, saying the way she dresses makes her feel sexy. As Maury reveals Akira’s new look, “The Real Housewives,” the audience and Celisse are shocked by the results.

“I don’t even recognize you,” exclaims Ramona Singer, from “New York.” When Ramona asks Akira if she feels sexy, Akira smiles and says, “I do!”

Kayla Roberts, a newlywed from Romulus, MI, has to juggle her time with five kids and claims that she was always too tired to get dressed up, even for her wedding night.

“I feel beautiful!” Kayla says, when Maury asks her how she likes the makeover.

And, to surprise the newlyweds, Maury announces that the show is sending the couple to Jamaica for four nights in a lavish suite to make up for their missed wedding night.

When Sarah Clinch, of Syracuse, NY, walks on stage in her typical day-to-day ensemble: a big baggy shirt, red pajama pants, yellow ‘Homer Simpson’ slippers and burnt orange hair, “The Real Housewives” shake their head in disapproval.

Maury asks Sarah’s nine-year-old son, Damon, his opinion of his mom’s choice of outfits.  Damon says, “I love my mom but my friends think she is weird. They think she’s a clown.”

As Maury reveals Sarah’s new look, “The Real Housewives,” the audience, her husband and son are shocked by the results as Sarah walks on stage with a new ‘do’ and stylish green silk dress. When asked how she feels about her makeover, Sarah says, “I feel blessed and I feel proud to be able to stand by their sides!”

The most drastic makeover occurred with Jessica Ayala, of Boston, MA.  When Jessica walks on stage, she is wearing a white bandana to pull her hair back, a baggy black t-shirt and navy pajama pants.

Maury asks Jessica why she doesn’t like herself physically. Jessica responds, “Every time I dress up or try and do my hair, I always find a defect in myself. Always.”

Before the transformation takes place, Nene Leakes from “Atlanta” reminds Jessica that, “We can give you a makeover today, but you have to do this yourself. We can’t change the way you are feeling on the inside.”

After receiving her make over, Maury asks Jessica how she feels. Jessica says, “I feel that I accomplished what I came here for.”

The MAURY show thanks the John Barrett Salon in New York for their help with the makeovers and Ramona Singer, for her gifts to the housewives from her new jewelry collection on HSN.com.
