WAVW-TV in Terre Haute, IN joins the ABC Television Network THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 and starts broadcasting Barbara Walters’ Emmy® award-winning talk and entertainment program, “The View,” live, weekdays (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET). “The View” features a variety of entertainment and informational segments which includes the ever-popular “Hot Topics,” the latest in fashion, health & beauty, crime, gossip, politicians, celebrities and top musical performances.
Celebrating its 15th Season, live, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 “The View” continues its original promise of five women, diverse points of view, tackling the hottest topics in the news, a formula proven to deliver one extraordinary show. Often imitated but never duplicated, “The View” is a certified part of the American zeitgeist, thereby establishing that there is no show like “The View.” An innovative live, daily daytime talk show from executive producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, “The View” launched on August 11, 1997. Since that time, “The View” has grown into a pop culture phenomenon, making television history in 2010 with guest President Barack Obama, the first time a sitting U.S. President would visit a daytime talk show.
In September, 2008, the show launched a highly successful “Red, White & View” campaign highlighting interviews and informational segments that helped promote civic responsibility during the election season. It’s the original forum in which real women discuss everyday issues, share their opinions and engage in colorful conversations. “The View,” broadcast in HDTV and produced in 2-channel stereo sound, is now available to watch online daily at 4:00 p.m., ET/1:00 p.m., PT on the ABC Digital Full Episode Player at ABC.com. “The View” is produced by ABC Daytime and Ms. Walters’ Barwall Productions, with Ms. Walters serving as executive producer along with Bill Geddie, who also serves as executive producer for “The Barbara Walters Specials.” “The View” is directed by Mark Gentile.
The View 2010-11 Season-to-Date Highlights:
The 10/11 season thus far delivers “The View’s” 2nd largest Total Viewer audience (3.6 million) in its 14-year history (behind 2008/09 record breaking season).
For seven consecutive seasons, “The View” wins its time period with women 18-49.
“The View” ranks 1st in its time period versus network programming with Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, outperforming “The Price is Right” with both demos.
“The View” is the 2nd strongest daytime talk show with Women 25-54 (tied with “Dr. Phil”) and Total Viewers (tied with “Dr. Phil” and “Live with Regis and Kelly” It also places 4th with Women 18-49 (tied with “Ellen”).
“The View” ranks as the 2nd highest daytime program (on ABC, CBS and NBC) across the three key women breaks: W18-34 (tied with “GH” and the second half of “Price”), W18-49 and W25-54 (both demos tied with “GH”).
