NICOLE RICHIE ANNOUNCES HER ENGAGEMENT ON CBS’s “LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN,” TO BE BROADCAST FRIDAY, FEB. 19

Nicole Richie announced that she is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, musician Joel Madden, during her appearance on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, which taped Monday night, Feb. 15, for broadcast Friday, Feb. 19.

Letterman asked Richie, “Now, you’re not married yet, is that correct?”  “We’re not married,” Richie said.  Letterman then asked, “Are you engaged?  Are you planning to get married?”  Richie confirmed, “We actually recently are engaged, yes.”  “You are engaged?” Letterman replied, “Oh, congratulations, that’s nice.”  He then joked, “A lot of people will have children and then they don’t want to rush right into the marriage – you know, they wait ’til the kids get out of college, then they get married.”

She and Madden have two children – a daughter, Harlow Winter Kate, age two years, and son, Sparrow James Midnight, five months old.  Earlier in the interview, Letterman asked Richie, “When you have the kids, everything changes, doesn’t it?”  “It does,” Richie said, “It sounds cheesy to say, but it does.  Your whole life changes and your priorities change 100 percent.”  “In a great, great way,” Letterman commented.  “In the best way possible,” Richie replied.

Richie is currently promoting her new clothing line, Winter Kate, and shoe line, House of Harlow, both named after her daughter.  Richie’s entire interview on the LATE SHOW can be seen Friday, Feb. 19 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated.  Barbara Gaines, Matt Roberts, Jude Brennan, Maria Pope, Eric Stangel, Justin Stangel and Rob Burnett are the executive producers.
