“NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS” CLOSES OUT 2010 AS AMERICA’S NUMBER ONE EVENING NEWSCAST

NEW YORK – December 28, 2010 – Closing out the year at number one, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” saw more than 9.5 million viewers for the week ending December 26, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. This marks the seventh consecutive week that the NBC broadcast has delivered more than nine million total viewers. “Nightly” delivered +1.527 million more than ABC “World News,’” 7.979 million and +3.263 million more than CBS “Evening News’” 6.243 million.  “Nightly” has won for 67 consecutive weeks, and in 114 of the past 115 weeks in total viewers. “Nightly” has now topped ABC “World News” by over 1 million viewers for eight consecutive weeks, and season-to-date, “Nightly” leads “World News” by +1,160,000 total viewers.  Ratings for all three newscasts are based on a four-day average (Friday excluded due to Christmas Eve Holiday).

For the week, “Nightly” also led in the key demo adults 25-54. “Nightly” delivered a 2.2 rating A25-54, ahead of “World News’” 1.7 and “Evening News’” 1.6. With 2.685 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, “Nightly” beat “World News” by +558,000 viewers. This is the 109th consecutive week “Nightly” has topped “World News” in A25-54 (000). Season-to-date, “Nightly” leads “World News” by +424,000 A25-54 viewers.

As the number one network broadcast last week, “Nightly” delivered a 6.0/12 Household rating, with “World News” in second place with a 5.2/10, and “Evening News” in third with a 4.1/8. Versus the fourth quarter 2010-to-date average, “Nightly” increased in homes (+5%) and total viewers (+10% or +833,000).

On its digital platforms, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” continued its strong performance with over 3.7 million online streams for the week ending December 25, 2010.
