Digby to Play an Intimate Acoustic Set Each Night of the Tour
From the ABC Music Lounge Tent
ABC, ABC Music Lounge and Lilith are excited to announce singer/songwriter Marie Digby as their special touring correspondent for the 2010 Lilith Tour. Digby will be traveling and reporting from across the country as she follows the Lilith Tour. Fans will be able to experience Lilith through Digby’s home videos from the road, as well as her interaction with fans and artists. In addition, She will perform a special acoustic set each night of the tour from the ABC Music Lounge.
The 27-year-old Los Angeles native vaulted to the forefront of emerging artists after a homemade video of her performing an acoustic version of Rihanna’s hit single, “Umbrella,” made her a YouTube phenom (still a fan favorite, the video has garnered more than 15 million views to date). Digby continues to be a viral sensation, with her homemade YouTube videos garnering a staggering 80 million views to date and counting. She is currently ranked the #20 most subscribed musician channel on YouTube.
As quickly as you can say “viral video,” Digby was in heavy rotation on LA’s STAR 98.7 and made her national TV debut on “Last Call with Carson Daly,” setting the stage for wider national exposure to come. She has been featured in magazines such as Esquire, ELLE, Lucky, Marie Claire and People Magazine, who gave Digby’s album, “Breathing Underwater,” a 3-star review. Her music has been featured in a string of TV shows including “ER,” “Greek,” “One Tree Hill,” “90210″ and “Lincoln Heights.” The MTV reality show “The Hills” also featured “Umbrella” on the Season Three premiere. The first week’s digital sales were almost 17,000 in true viral and organic form.
Digby’s newest cover song, “Building a Mystery,” is a tribute to Lilith founder Sarah McLachlan. The video is available now on ABC Music Lounge http://abc.go.com/music-lounge/lilith, as well as Digby’s youtube page, www.youtube.com/MarieDigby.
The U.S. Lilith Tour kicks off on Friday, July 2 and ends on Monday, August 16. There will be 11 artists on each date, with only two consistencies per show: the Lilith Local Talent Search Ourstage.com winner who starts the day and headliner Sarah McLachlan. Visit LilithFair.com for more information.
