LLOYD KAUFMAN TO STAR ON DISCOVERY/SCIENCE CHANNEL’S “ODDITIES” THIS WEEKEND

February 13, 2012, New York, NY – Greetings from Tromaville! Troma Entertainment is proud to announce that Lloyd Kaufman, creator of The Toxic Avenger and President of Troma Entertainment, will appear as a special guest on Oddities, Saturday February 18 at 9pm on Discovery Channel and The Science Channel.  Part of the episode was filmed at Lloyd’s home, so this is your chance to see the inside of the refrigerator carton in which he lives!

Oddities dives into the weird world of strange and extraordinary science artifacts through the eyes of the proprietors of Manhattan’s Obscura Antiques & Oddities. Obscura’s co-owners and buyers comb flea markets, auctions, antique shows, estate sales and garage sales for everything from bizarre medical instruments and turn-of-the-century masks, to Victorian hair jewelry and amusement-park fortune-teller heads.

Legendary filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman has written, directed or produced more than 50 movies, including four Toxic Avengers, three Class of Nukem Highs, Tromeo & Juliet, Poultrygeist and Terror Firmer. He has been an honored guest at international film festivals around the world, and has received Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Fantasy Film Festival of Amsterdam, Sitges Film Festival, & Brussels Festival of Fantasy among others. In 1999 he founded the TromaDance Film Festival in Park City, Utah during Sundance. TromaDance is a festival with no entry fee to submit films and no admission charged to audience members. Kaufman was the elected Chairman of the Independent Film & Television Alliance, a trade organization composed of 200 member companies; the published author of an acclaimed series of books on independent filmmaking; and an actor with cameos in several films including Orgazmo and Super. He also teaches a successful series of Master Classes at universities like Oxford and Yale and other institutions, and has created a television series for England’s Channel 4.
