“GOOD MORING AMERICA” LAUNCHES THE “ROAD TO RECOVERY” SERIES BEGINNING TODAY, TUESDAY, AUGUST 24

Robin Roberts Returns To Haiti, Nashville and Mississippi    Beginning today, Tuesday, August 24, ABC News’ “Good Morning America” launches the “Road to Recovery,” with Robin Roberts returning to Haiti, Nashville, and Mississippi to explore where things stand in the recovery efforts of these hard hit regions. Additionally, five years after Hurricane Katrina, Roberts will anchor the program live from her hometown of Pass Christian, Mississippi on Friday, August 27.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Roberts reports on Haiti nearly seven months after the devastating earthquake. She recently revisited an orphanage that was in ruins after the quake — the same orphanage where Roberts reunited a terrified young girl with her adoptive parents who didn’t know she was still alive.

On Thursday Roberts reports on Nashville, Tennessee, after the historic flooding in the region and gradual resurgence of the community. During her visit there, she talked to country star Julie Roberts about her family’s devastating ordeal. Roberts went on a one-on-one walk through of the singer’s partially renovated home, just months after being destroyed by the floods. They also discussed how country musicians are pulling together to help in the city’s recovery.

On Friday Roberts will anchor “Good Morning America” from her hometown of Pass Christian, Mississippi. She has returned to the Gulf Coast numerous times to update viewers on how residents and businesses in that part of the country are recovering post-Katrina. In the days following Katrina, Roberts traveled to the hurricane zone and reported live amid the devastation of the storm, and also launched “GMA Gets It Done,” a year-long effort to rebuild Pass Christian. In addition Roberts reports on how the tragedy of the recent oil spill has impacted the region.

“Good Morning America” is a two-hour, live program anchored by Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos. Juju Chang is the news anchor and Sam Champion is the weather anchor. The morning news program airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (7:00-9:00 a.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Jim Murphy is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC News’ “Good Morning America.”
