FIRST CONTENDER ELIMINATED ON OXYGEN’S “THE GLEE PROJECT” MAXFIELD CAMP OF NASHVILLE, TN IS NOT INVITED TO “THE CALL BACK”

Season One Winner Samuel Larsen To Return To The Classroom As Episode Two Guest Mentor on Tuesday, June 12th at 10:00PM ET/PT

NEW YORK – June 6, 2012 – Oxygen’s “The Glee Project” season two opened last night with a vibrant and energetic rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” in front of one of the ultimate Gleek guest mentors, Lea Michele (Rachel Berry on “Glee”). The 14 contenders were challenged to discover themselves with the theme of “Individuality,” and were coached by Michele on how to exude personality while performing. The contender’s main challenge was a music video of Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again” where some members struggled with discovering their inner selves during their performance. In the end Aylin Bayramoglu, Maxfield Camp and Tyler Ford were asked to perform a last chance performance. At the conclusion of the premiere episode, “Glee” hopeful and countryboy Maxfield Camp (22) of Nashville, TN was the first contender to be eliminated. Camp recently discovered his passion for country singing and songwriting. “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy attempted to tap into that side of Camp, by tasking him to sing “Always On My Mind” by Willie Nelson as a last chance performance. Ultimately, the decision was made and Camp was sent home.

Prior to appearing on “The Glee Project,” Maxfield Camp had his focus in athletics, specifically his Varsity football team. It was not until recently that Camp revealed his love for music and his talent in country singing and songwriting. Camp is currently a student at Full Sail University. He originally auditioned for “The Glee Project” at an open casting call in Nashville, TN.

With one person gone and the stakes raised, the show continues on Tuesday, June 12 at 10pm ET/PT with “Dance-ability” week. The contenders will work hand-in-hand with season one co-winner Samuel Larsen, who returns to the classroom where it all began for him. Mentoring the remaining contenders, Larsen gives insight to his experiences as one of “Glee’s” newest castmembers, “Joseph Hart.” Then, some of the contenders get steamy during the music video shoot, performing LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem.”

“The Glee Project” is produced by Ryan Murphy Television and Embassy Row with Ryan Murphy, Dante Di Loreto, Michael Davies and Shauna Minoprio serving as executive producers.

A print conference call with Maxfield will take place today at 1pm PT/4pm ET. For call information, please contact [email protected] or contact [email protected].
