Last night, Dr. Drew spoke with Jake Harris and Jake Anderson from Discovery’s Deadliest Catch. They have the most dangerous jobs in the world, but it’s addiction that threatened their lives. Last night, Dr. Drew talked to them about navigating both storms.
On why Harris started the pain meds, he said:
“Well in high school I was a skater, and turned out I wasn’t very good. So I broke some limbs.”
Dr. Drew was quick to send a warning out to parents with teenagers seeking medication for dealing with injuries:
“If you have a kid who has orthopedic injuries under the age of 18 and he or she gets prescribed opiates, pain medicine, for more than 2 weeks, be careful. If there’s any biological predilection for an alcohol addiction you can trigger it.”
